Series Thread: Faithwear One-Day Inter-Provincials

Post by maehara »

More out of hope than expectation about getting much information on these. The 'B' Division tournament is currently underway, with the 'A' division to follow-on immediately after. Repeated requests to ZC for a fixture list have yet to get a response, and the sole item on the ZC website runs as follows:
THE Inter-provincial Faithwear B section one-day competition is underway in the capital until Tuesday.

The tournament is at the Alexandra Sports Club and Takashinga Cricket Club.

The “B” division of the Faithwear series is the hunting ground for many upcoming players from the country’s 10 provinces who are knocking on the doors of selection to play at higher levels. With impressive performances, some of the players will be picked to play in the A section, which starts immediately after the B games.

The provinces will play each other on a league format, with the side that emerges best overall walking away with the title.
I'll post anything I get...

It's a little disappointing that these games are going to have to be played when the national team are in action in South Africa. Zim really need the competition in domestic cricket to be as high as possible, ie, when all the national team players will be available to compete. Not only does this raise the standard of the matches, but allows the selectors the opportunity to judge national team candidates against each other fairly. It's not too big a deal if the 50 and 20 over competitions are missing the internationals, as this was the case last year. But, if at all possible, I think the Logan Cup should be competed for by the best players in the country...

yes I would like to see him in the One day side zim need an attacking batsman who can hit 6s in the closing overs i cant think of any1 who can do it better as chigumbura seems to have gone into his shell.. and he bowls part time medium pace

That's what we need, someone else who can bowl medium pace

Maybe Strydom could be given a run for the Pro20 series, it really is tailor made for his style of batting. Charles Coventry too.

Good signs:
"Our seam bowler, Khawulani Ntuli, took 22 wickets and was the most outstanding player of the tournament.”
