12 weeks of 4 day cricket would mean each side would play each other 4 times? would be great if it turns out that way (not holding my breath).Meanwhile, the 2016/17 domestic cricket season is due to start next month and run through to end of April next year. ZC public relations and media manager Darling Majonga said four provinces will participate in first class and List A competitions. The four are Harare Metropolitan Eagles, Bulawayo Metropolitan Tuskers, Midlands Rhinos as well as Manicaland Mountaineers.
“Our domestic season is scheduled to start mid-October 2016 and end in April 2017. However, our pre-season meeting which is scheduled for the 27th of September 2016 will deliberate on the proposed 2016/17 structure and come up with the final draft.
We have scheduled 12 weeks of four-day cricket, 18 weeks of 50-over cricket and a Twenty20 tournament to be played over 10 days. Four-day and 50-over cricket will be played on a home-and-away basis,’’ said Majonga.

Agreed. I really think 10 matches per format should be a minimum. Struggles to really be termed a "season" without. However, as you say, breath no being held...zimfan1 wrote:

12 FC games each would be great - probably six instead.
Re: Longer domestic season to start mid October
These reporters always kick off their piece with ""meanwhile."
Meanwhile implies that the person has been telling you about something else first and then has changed tack and is now telling you about this, but there is a connection between the stories, and the latter story may clarify the former one.
Here we've learnt that "meanwhile" is the red flag signal for a paragraph of bullshit. Real reporters are supposed to do a little bit of research in case their story has no resemblance to the truth in case they lose their jobs. Not here. Print the same pre season nonsense for the 10th straight year in a row and you become a senior reporter.

The bigger sign of poor writing is the fact that "roaring to life" was not used once in the article. Every cricket story requires something to "roar into life".Googly wrote:These reporters always kick off their piece with ""meanwhile."

Re: Longer domestic season to start mid October
Any update on when the domestic season starts by any of our locals down in Zim?
Re: Longer domestic season to start mid October
Each team should have 4 national team players & those in the Zim A squad
Each team should have 3 under 21 players in they squads...
at least 1 minority in each team to start racial healing in Zimbabwe..
Taibu, Streak & ZC this is the only way forward...

Don't worry I am sure it will roar into life in mid-December or so.
