dropping waller !!
do you think dropping waller in the first game was justified ? he has been in great form for the limited overs leg in the recent past. i agree he failed in the test matches but that was more because he was stuck between if to play his natural aggressive game or stay at the crease. i think he deserves chance in the next game ..but at whose expense ? ..williams and ervine are undroppable at the moment ..chibhaba can bowl..moor is ur best batsman currently ..raza gives u a bowling option and brings in the much needed energy in the field. so your options are either chari or chigumbara ..or probably drop one of the seamers? raza williams waller and chibhaba can bowl the remaining 20 overs? what do you guys think ?

Re: dropping waller !!
Welcome aboard!
Waller averages 18 over 57 ODIs! Sibanda, with an average of 24 over 127 matches looks bradmanesque in comparison. Not that I'm rooting for Sibanda. Both of them should be nowhere near the national ODI setup. Waller has struggled in ODIs and should be one of our T20 specialists.
Raza is not a bowler. He can turn his arm around, but we can't depend on him to provide 5 good overs regularly. Decent batsmen will hit him out of the attack more often than not. He has to make the team as a batsman. Bowling of Williams seems to have receded from the highs of Aus-SA tri series times. Hamilton's bowling can be trusted on most occasions for some quiet overs but he can't demand a place in the XI for his current batting form.

Re: dropping waller !!
i agree that his overall average has been pathetic but recently he has developed a bit ..played good against PAK a ..talking abt williams i think he his not being used much under cremer's captaincy ..taylor always made him bowl so did chigumbara ..and what ur changes then ? for the next game ?CrimsonAvenger wrote:Welcome aboard!

I agree with Tej. Most of the guys failed in the last game, so it won't hurt us if we bring back Waller in the next game. He can bowl too, and could be used down the order as a batsman. He definitely shouldn't bat in the middle order as he has a habit of getting out when the oppositions apply pressure. I would also bring back Hami, Muskanda and Chisoro for the second ODI. It's still going to be tough for us to beat them. We are clearly lacking decent batsmen at the top and middle order.
Raza/Chibabha
Hami
Craig
Muskanda
Williams

Waller
Cremer
Chisoro

Re: dropping waller !!
Waller is a good aggressive player and also an all-rounder and is a good treat to watch when he is on form. He also performed decently well in wicketkeeper' s role. But the problem, it seems is that, he doesn't get enough support from the home crowd neither from his team. Perhaps it may be useful to move Waller as an opening batsman, if Cremer is not interested with his bowling. Masakadza/Musakanda should open Zim innings with Waller.
Re: dropping waller !!
I've always been in favour of dropping a seamer to have 2 full-time spinners. However we always seem to go with 3 full-time seamers, even though we're lacking a dangerous pace bowler.

Re: dropping waller !!
Could try opening with Waller in ODI's I guess, but I think it's time to admit he's reached his ceiling.
There was a point a few years ago (when he made a few half-centuries in Tests, hit that great 99* against NZ, etc) when it looked like he might be able to kick on - but he just never did unfortunately.
Waller is about a 20 avg player. Vusi is about a 22 avg player. That's their limit unfortunately. They are in the Craig Evans mould. By virtue of those numbers they'll probably be around the fringes of the team for the foreseeable future but it's probably better to try some new faces who might have a higher ceiling.
Waller's best bet is probably to focus on being a T20 specialist actually.

Re: dropping waller !!
Why do you want to fire Graeme Cremer?
Come on SINCERE, nobody's going to take you seriously if you're advocating the omission of a guy with a knighthood.
