Zimbabwe Cricket's Performance is going down every year. It had been 2015 when Zimbabwe last won a sereis against Ireland & 2013 when they last beat a top side like Australia in odi & Pakistan in Test.
Zimbabwe Cricket in last two years suffered much with retirement of Brendan Taylor, Kyle Jarvis opting to play counties. The team has been facing defeats after defeats, changes have been made in administration, coaching staffs, but what Zimbabwe need is to focus on domestic cricket, making it more competative, adding atleast 6 to 8 teams in domestic set ups in four day, odi & t20s.

Its seems enough now keeping hope with these group, they have failed and now Zimbabwe are even uncertain to feature in 2019 World Cup in UK.


Its time now to focus on under 19 in new domestic season, providing them more games. Four Franchise cricket needs to be replaced by 8 or 6 teams,making it competative. Better domestic Structure with talented slots of player could make Zimbabwe strong again. Restructuring should be done with proper talents irrespective of age, skill should be considered. Players like Kunje, Musakanda, Ngarva, Mashwinge, Burl, Bowie, N.Waller, Mumba, Nyauchi, Murray, Sly, Kefee, Snyder, Ives, Shumba, Shara, Rochi, Jackiel have got the jill and now focus should be on placing them in domestic cricket and then A team

Do you know which ones are currently playing club cricket?
Are there any that are making runs or taking wickets at this level?

Not too many guys can realistically expect to play U19 and then walk into a franchise side. There are a couple but I'm sure you don't know who they are.

We don't have enough decent players to have 8 FC sides, the standard would not be high enough, we're already struggling with a weak FC system and they're not being paid enough to confidently concentrate on being professionals. You could potentially have an extra development side based out of Harare but I would be surprised if there were enough quality players. Most of the good school leavers don't hang around. They need to be realistic and pursue a career that they can rely on to make a living. Gary Brent would be the right guy to head this team up. ZC need to put more money in the system and have the correct people driving it. Even if they cut back on their admin I'm not sure there's enough money to do what's necessary. We ideally need corporate interest but again that horse has bolted. Scary times for Zim cricket lovers.

What happened to all the white guys Googly?
Is the Friendlies League still a thing? I'd imagine slotting a dozen or so of those guys into the FC structure would automatically boost the quality of the competition. Even if they aren't interested in national honours due to the politics, it would be nice if they could still contribute to the domestic competitions.

It's boozers' league cricket. Whilst there are some decent players there most are past it and are struggling to make ends meet anyway. They won't have the time or the inclination to practice and get back into shape and play more seriously. We've almost lost our cricketing culture, that's the truth. They don't even want to commit to the Harare Metro league type cricket which is a level up. That's partly due to it being off and on again and then there's often a bit of animosity, a fair amount of which could be resolved by better umpiring and by better behavior from various individuals. A few years ago there were options to kick start a few things but as each season rolls by the opportunities to sort things out lessen. The major issue is now the state of the economy. People are trying to figure out how to put food on the table and all sport is suffering, particularly cricket.

This Symcox character has just told Walter that Vusi said he should be in the side. It was a bit tongue in cheek but nonetheless it's in poor taste.

I'm not sure there's much politics left, to be honest. I think we're at the 11th hour and we just need the best players at franchise and national level. At age group level there may be a quota system in place, but that may be necessary if they play in SA because they're where we were at 10 years ago and it's a requirement. They shouldn't have a say in what we do but it may be convenient. I think they're picking age group sides now so it will be interesting to see the composition of them. Again the truth is that I'm not seeing too many good players. There's a couple in each age group, but it's not like it was a few years ago, the interest and commitment from kids and parents is getting less and less.
