Can Zimbabwe qualify for 2019 world cup with this team ?

Post by ricky »

Since 2003 Zimbabwe cricket has been on decline. They now find themselves at Par with Afghanistan and Ireland. They have played 100 tests and it will be too much shameful if they wont make it to 2019 world cup. It would mean less sponsor and they will go the Kenya way. There must be a plan in place. The best Zimbabwe cricketers are playing abroad.

They can, but probably Afghanistan and West Indies would be favourites to come through the qualifying.

I think the sponsorship thing might be a bit of a red herring though. It's not as if Zim have had any decent level of sponsorship for the last few years anyway. The ICC handout is a much more significant income stream.

The Qualifying tournament would be played in Bangladesh. They would need to compete wit Scotland, Afghanistan, Ireland and WI or Pak . Only one would qualify. They need quality batsmen. At the moment only Ervine or Williams seems to be dependable. Raza , chikumbra , Waller are highly inconsistent. Zimbabwe needs to keep a pool of 15 players and make them battle ready for 2019 world cup. It would be make or break moment for them.

Nice to see you're off in a world of your own again

Firstly, you want to drop every single player with any experience whatsoever and replace them with schoolkids

Secondly, will you please spell loser properly, how many times do you need to be asked? LOSER means someone who fails at everything LOOSER means how food comes out of your backside after eating something bad or, alternatively, what comes out of your keyboard

Thirdly, you want to kick out, for example, Moor? Wellington Masakadza? Madziva? Ervine? Jongwe? Chisoro? Why?

Fourthly, you want to kick out numbers 18, 23, 25 & 27, what have these mysterious players done to annoy you? You also want Ncube out, considering he's only played one match of any description since the beginning of 2013, he's hardly the coaches pet player is he?

Lastly, tell us how a bunch of kids "will surely qualify" and tell us your plan to bring back players who have left Zim

Just needed some clarification and don't have much to contribute to this thread. They expanded it to 4 teams qualifying instead of 2 isn't it? Won't it be 12 team world cup?

No, it is a ten-team world cup.

No, it is a ten-team world cup.

Regarding the qualifying tournament, why isn't it being held in England? Bangladesh won't even be in the qualifying tournament most likely so holding it there makes little sense.

I believe that there might be a chance that the qualifiers will be moved. I think the reason for it to be scheduled in Bangladesh in the 1st place was because they were expected to be playing in it at that stage.

Still a 10-team world cup, therefore 2 (not 1 as suggested further up) will qualify. WI or Pakistan, whichever doesn't qualify automatically will be the clear favorites, probably with Afghanistan 2nd, and Zim and Ireland 3rd or 4th. Clearly therefore, Zim have a reasonable chance of finishing in the top 2, but will likely have to be at their absolute best to do so.
