This gives zimbabwe enormous opportunity for bench players like rainsford and mahwire to show their stuff and see if they are worthy of recalls..Also players like Ntuli,Jarvis,...If they can blow through some of the sides with national players then perhaps we have the new FAST zimbabwe pace bowler that we have been looking for.

Players like Kamungozi and cremer will be keen to impress and show their spin credentials..And also a chance for the national players to get used to playing the long format..Working on the presumption they may face india in may

yes very good to see zimboard organising it. There will be alot of players trying to get a look in by selectors now I hope a young fast bowler comes in and has a good tournment because we neeed to produce another seamer who bowls more than just medium pace and soon.

Good news indeed that the competiton is to go ahead.

One slight problem , Zim have the last of their Standard Bank Pro20 matches on 11th march and, if they were to qualify, the semi finals and final are due to be played on 18th, 20th & 25th march, the 1st round of Logan games are listed as 12th to 15th and 19th to 22nd march.

The Logan Cup is about to begin its second season of its new format. The teams are the Northerns, Centrals, Southerns, Easterns and the Westerns, who are strong favourites.

This is a funny competition, you never know what to expect. Graeme Cremer smashing centuries, Keith Dabengwa taking 7-fers... Last year we also saw the First Class debut of Matthew Williams, Sean's brother. Hopefully we will see some more family connections this year, the best of which would be the First Class debut of Kyle Jarvis (son of Malcolm).

Last year, scorecards were near impossible to come by. Hopefully this has been rectified this year.

"Blame" Robin Brown - although if he's looking to get some T20 practice in ahead of the Standard Bank Pro20, he has a point:

The ZC operations office, which had already postponed the country's Twenty20 and one-day competitions, released Logan Cup fixtures last Wednesday, only to be forced into an embarrassing about turn after consultations at the weekend with Robin Brown, the national coach.

As a result, the inter-provincial Twenty20 event will now be staged first as Zimbabwe prepare to take part in the South African Standard Bank Twenty20 tournament. The domestic competition will take place in Harare next week. Brown argued that there were no specialised Twenty20 players and such a tournament would allow the selectors to assess the talent available.

It does again raise issues about the lack of communication within the board, and why the cricket operations department scheduled the Logan Cup at short notice without consulting with anyone on the coaching or selection side.

this is a much better idea to play the 2020 competition first as it gets the players into 2020 mode it also allows oportunities for new players to come through into the sqaud for the pro twenty series in south africa and im sure this is an oppurtunity for the likes of Strydom and Marumisa to get look in

all this aside its still dissapointing the way ZC organise things at the last minute but thats how things are done by this disorganised cricket board
