Zim heading for yet another cash crunch

Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has been hit by a financial crunch which could affect salaries for all employees, including players. In a memo circulated within the board and seen by ESPNcricinfo, Nesta Vaki, ZC's head of Corporate Affairs and Human Resources, informed the staff that they will only receive half their October salaries at the end of the month and that the organisation will "do its best to rectify the situation by end November 2017."

A senior board official said the memo was dated October 25 and that it was "an internal operational matter which we are dealing with and trying to resolve as soon as possible." The official refused to elaborate on the reasons for the cash-flow problems and maintained that with payments due on October 30, no salaries have been affected yet. Several sources, however, have said that they do not expect payments to be made in full.

Though ZC's structure of corporate governance has improved significantly in recent months, it has also incurred some hefty costs. The ongoing two-Test series against West Indies in Bulawayo is set to be the board's biggest expense this month, and it has also spent money on hosting domestic competitions and upgrades for grounds to host the 2019 World Cup Qualifier next March.

The issue, however, has not had any effect on cricket in Zimbabwe. Last season, the Logan Cup, the country's first-class competition, was delayed several times after players opted to strike when salaries went unpaid.

Some things never change, this has come even quicker than googly warned. ZC really finds itself in a position where it can't afford to play cricket, unless it is against India.

Not sure what pariah is rubbing in here, his anointed clowns of Bvute, Mugabe etc got ZC into this mess to begin with.

At least it's only the admin effected. ZC insulating the players it seems unlike last time. Good move πŸ˜€

I see what you did there

The BCCI, the bosom buddies of ZC and their Pakistani boss

Hasn't ZC been under the Chairmanship of two ZCF "darlings" for the past 3 years?

What takes the cake for me is this phrase from Firdose:
Though ZC's structure of corporate governance has improved significantly in recent months
Why not simply say corporate governance has improved significantly?

Anyway, you can never wish away common sense. Cricket in Zimbabwe is dead with the ICC's blessing! Watch as everything unfolds slowly.

Pariah, you and googly are sounding quite similar now, speaking of ZCs imminent demise.

John Ward is of the opinion that the top players will be paid ok, it is the lower tier admin staff who will suffer.

"Top players"? Why not all cricketers?

How on earth does that make sense? Try applying that reasonin even to the hopeless US Cricket Association?

While the current financial situation is far from ideal, at this stage it doesn't look this will lead to Logan Cup games being cancelled/postponed like last season.

Look how happy Hhm is just proves he doesn’t care at all for Zimbabwe Cricket just for his own agendas

BTW this looks like a small issue not like the good old days of player strikes and players getting caught stealing just to feed themselves
