[Match Thread] Bangladesh v Zimbabwe: 2nd ODI
Bangladesh v Zimbabwe: 1st ODI
3 December 2010, Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur
Zimbabwe Squad: Elton Chigumbura (capt), Tatenda Taibu (wk), Brendan Taylor, Hamilton Masakadza, Shingi Masakadza, Regis Chakabva, Chamu Chibhabha, Raymond Price, Ryan Butterworth, Craig Ervine, Prosper Utseya, Graeme Cremer, Keith Dabengwa, Chris Mpofu, Keegan Meth
Bangladesh squad: Shakib Al Hasan (capt), Mashrafe Mortaza, Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Junaid Siddique, Mohammad Ashraful, Raqibul Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Mahmudullah, Naeem Islam, Abdur Razzak, Suhrawadi Shuvo, Shafiul Islam, Rubel Hossain, Nazmul Hossain
One-nil Zimbabwe, who apparently aren't as scared of Bangladesh as they're supposed to be.
Problem with Zimbabwe, though: we tend to pick a gameplan at the start of a series, and then stick to it religiously, even when the other side figure us out and work out how to deal with it. This is why we often start a series with one or two wins, and then watch as our results get progressively worse as the series goes on and a 2-0 lead turns into a 2-3 series defeat. So the question now is, will we just carry on regardless, or try something new along the way..?

For the next game we need Masakadza back in ,Cremer should also get a bite of the cherry on the slow pitches , and I would sacrifice Dabengwa obviously but my second choice will be difficult

Situation is already complicated. Dabengwa should give way to Cremer but how to fit-in Hamilton? Regis and Craig played very good knocks. Meth-Mpofu death overs were great and Chibhabha-Taylor rollicking start was responsible for our 200 score. For a change Chigumbura rotated bowlers intelligently. There should be absolutely no reason for Hamilton's axing. He SHOULD play even if its at the cost of Taibu. Really difficult

For the next game this will be my game plan .If we bat first , we take on the seamers for some quick runs , steady down things when the spinners come in have people who can play spin like Taibu go a run a ball , and then launch as the innings go .Simple lets not attck the spin , we play with it but ensure that they dont strangle us .
I was impressed with our seamers Mpofu and Meth who did realy quite well. The reason why Zim looses most of its games is because our bowlers can control the game but not taking wickets . If Streak and company sort out that then 2nd ODI is ours . So game on ........

I need the selectors to keep working . The used to cry about the lack of depth in the side .I love it when we find it difficlt to drop someone who is in form .Chiggs did a good job , he did not bowl himself today otherwise it was going to be a differnt story .Dr_Situ(ZimFanatic) wrote:Situation is already complicated. Picking a side is just a waste now.Campbell needs to look at his squad and think:
'right okay. who's going to get me 5 wickets ?? who's going to rotate the strike ?? Who's better than Keith Dabengwa...oh yeah of course everyone, so he's out of contention'.
It's time to man up and pick the best side.
I'd have Dabengwa out and Cremer in. That's the only change i would make. The top order looked great. Very impressed with Taylor and his new opener Chibahba, and was excited at the fact that Craig Ervine has found out how to play spin

What if Banglad open the bowling with spinners like they are likely going to do. We struggled against spin in today's game & dd quite well facing the quicks. They will also assess the game & see that we choke playing spin. I will not be surprised if they drop all the quicks & field 5 spinners like they did the other game against us a while ago.Flower power wrote:For the next game this will be my game plan .If we bat first , we take on the seamers for some quick runs...
