U-19 World Cup Qualifier - Should our youngsters be there?

I just noticed that the U-19 WC qualifiers are under way in Ireland. Obviously, as full members we are not required to qualify for the World Cup, but after our dismal showing at the last U-19 WC we hardly deserve a free ride. Furthermore I was wondering if such a tournament - close matches with a lot at stake, alien conditions and decent opposition with the likes of Ireland being lead by Dockrell who impressed everyone in the senior WC - would not benefit our youngsters more than getting routinely hammered by SA.

I think it would be useful to play the likes of Ireland, but at the same time it may prove a bad move since we would lose our spot. The current Zimbabwe under 19's side has a lot of talent in the likes of Malcolm Lake imparticular.

No point making things harder for ourselves than it needs to be.

When you got a good thing going on, don't question it, just hold it tight and dont let it go!
Ireland wouldn't

If he doesn't fly of to England or Aus, he'll definitely make one of the franchises and 2-3 years time might be a solution to our pathetic middle order.

Lake is seriously overated, he was outed very quickly on the u19 tour of South Africa against their quicks with the short ball and showed he was scared of the ball when batting.. One of the more talented batters from that squad was Matthew Bentley who looked a whole lot more comfortable at the crease.. Another is young Kevin Kasuza from the Mountaineers whom is a good batsman/part time wicket keeper... Those were the only two batters who looked class on that South African tour.. And I do feel playing the likes of Ireland would do us more favours than playing South Africa and getting battered all the time!!

M Lake is over-rated. M. Bentley is very good, son of Rob Bentley, he will most proably captain the side. The other player to look out for that has been hampered by injury over the past year is James Bruce. A classy left hand batter a left hand openning bowler.

Malcolm Lake as a bowler, not a batter. I've seen him bowl and he's zippy
