I’d expect most Tuskers players to be playing as it’s pre-season.

Meanwhile if anyone has any updates about anything happening elsewhere in the country at club level this season, especially the Vigne Cup, please let us know here. So many people involved on the ground lurk and read this forum - please post guys info appreciated!

Pretty sure these games didn't happen in the end despite being scheduled. Season seems to be delayed.

Anyway, elsewhere my mate at Kadoma says there is Mashonaland West League cricket happening this weekend with;

Kadoma Vs Tabatana @ Kadoma Sports Club.


And Bulawayo are having another attempt at starting their season with;

I hear there are as many as 20 teams signed up for the Vigne Cup this year across two divisions (if they all turn up). This is, frankly, completely unsustainable with only a few grounds available.

Is this league worth seriously? For a third-forth tier league, it would have benefited from having 4 or so provincial under 20 teams, than being a low-stakes social league. The link secretzimbo put up, has a team scoring 58 all out runs in a 50 over game. Cricket is now big business, we need serious cricketers in these leagues

Mate it's only the local Bulawayo amateur league - most of the players are there for a laugh and a drink, whilst a few others use it as a genuine audition for the Tuskers squad. Interesting to keep tabs on it as the very top performers do usually find themselves in the Tuskers squads eventually. And when the Logan has a break you will see a bunch of the franchise players playing in it too.

Mostly just waiting for the Harare league to start. That is good standard - often a similar standard to franchise when everyone turns up.

Apart from the white league with all the ex stars playing, does Harare have an equivalent local amateur league?
The Vigne Cup is club, but seems too high level for people just wanting to have fun on a Saturday.

Not really. The Bulawayo league is the 'equivalent' of the Vigne Cup technically. Just the cricket community down there is miniscule in comparison so it ends up being much much much lower level.

Apart from the Harare Boozers League, there's probably unofficial stuff that goes on but not particularly organised. Takashinga have their own inter-club stuff, very very casual, going on there every weekend.
