ODI predictions

Post by Boundary »

Basically, I think we'll lose the ODIs to Bangladesh 3-2.

Here's my reasoning. Essentially Bangladesh are a better one day side than us (even though we are clearly a better Test side). Tamim & Co will be able to score at a brisk pace and their spinners can turn a screw or two when we bat. Two things are in our favour though: our seamers are too much for them and our batting lineup has a bit of depth and form. However, in order to maximise our chances, changes will need to be made. If I was in charge I'd reluctantly drop Sibanda (he's our test specialist, that's been clear for almost two years now) but that creates an opening problem. I still want Hammie and Taylor at 3 and 4, but with Forster coming in, I'd have to open with Taylor and give him an anchor role for the innings. Meth and Utseya need to come in at some point and the fitness of both Jarvis and Vitori is a concern of mine but wholesale changes can be more harmful, so how about mixing up the line with each match? He's my lineup for Friday:

1. Taylor
2. Mawoyo
3. Masakadza
4. Mutizwa
5. Ervine
6. Taibu
7. Chigumbura
8. Meth
9. Price
10. Mpofu
11. Jarvis

A few changes for the following matches are: Vitori for Jarvis, Utseya for Meth, even Raza for Cremer if his batting disappoints again. In Bulawayo I'd have two spinners and Meth (he should know his home ground right?) but that also depends on whether we're 3-0 down or whether the series is still alive. How about taking a look at Chatara, Waller and Shingi? Too many variables but good problems to have.

Mutizwa deserves a chance, Suprisingly though despite his attacking capabilities he seems to do better in first class than One day matches domestically at least

No, I'm not a big fan of changing a winning line up. However, i do agree with what you say about the overall fittness of our fast bowlers. We don't want to burn the likes of Kyle and Vitori out. And i don't agree with Mawoyo opening the batting one bit mate, sorry. Here's my line up..

1. Raza
2. Sibanda
3. Taylor
4. Mazakadza
5. Taibu
6. Ervine
7. Chigumbura
8. Meth
9. Utsea
10. Price
11. Mpofu

12th man: Kyle Jarvis

Probably I am posting it in the wrong place. Bangladeshi UCBL (United Commercial Bank Ltd) is to sponsor the ODI series. It's nice to see our sponsors are still interested to sponsor after the humiliation in test. Probably they did the right thing from commercial point of view. More attention with be on the series!!

Ey! I thought this thread was for predicting how much we are going to whoop the tigers. I'd say we might just give them one game and win 4-1. We are at home and twice we narrowly lost to the S.A A-team which i think is way better than BD. Our confidence is high and we have won the game that mattered this whole tour. I feel now we can be more aggressive. I dont think BD are more aggressive than our batsmen, they are just confident they can win against any team. Their inability to rotate strike more often makes them less effective. There is no reason why we shouldnt whitewash the stripes out of these tigers, soak them in Jik and send them home white as polar bears.

cumon people ! sibanda played well in the tests but does not make him a odi player ! look at his record he might look the goods but he is not a one day player same as keegan meth u can keep tryen him but he is a work horse bowler not a odi bowler ? taylors form inncreased when he became a opener, he can bat 4 in test cricket but in odi i prefer him at the top.

bat.
