It also shows, once again, how far Zimbabwe have sunk. In truth they are barely the standard of a mid-ranking Associate.
So Cricinfo's stance on Zimbabwe is now official. Were they describing Australia's standard as barely that of low ranking full member when Zimbabwe beat them? Were they calling for West Indies full member status to be revoked when Zimbabwe comfortably beat them last year?

Newsflash to Cricinfo, Canada didn't win. Yes, Canada played like the better team (Zimbabwe played like the better team most of the time against Sri Lanka remember), yes, it should never have come down to a bowl out and yes, it was a very lucky "escape route" as they put it. But what the scorecard shows is that Zimbabwe won, and that was the expected result. End of story, no matter how they want to word it, Canada still lost.

Entirely unsurprising - CricInfo just enjoy taking any excuse to put the boot in, and I've long been ignoring them. The key thing to remember is this: the full Zimbabwe side has yet to lose to an Associate team other than Kenya (who for a long time were considered "above" the other Associates anyway, thanks to their 2003 World Cup run and their spell with "One Day Member" status before it was abolished). Until such time as they're consistently losing to the Associates, there are no grounds for comparing their playing standards to those Associates.

That said, if Zim go to Kenya next week in this form (and/or with Utseya as captain, given his current form), they're going to get turned over by both Ireland and Kenya...

That looks like a distinct possibility :(
