Dear Forumites(Manicaland Developement Plan)
Dear Forumites
At the current moment I am drafting a development plan for development of Cricket in Manicaland .
This is a chance that you and I can make a positive and a significant change in the players that are going
to come through the Zimbabwe channel in 5-10 years time .
I hope you can input positive ideas that can be useful
eg structures , sponsorships , scholarships etc
The province is subdivided into seven districts, Buhera, Chimanimani, Chipinge, Makoni, Mutare in the center, including the city Mutare, Mutasa and Nyanga in the northeast of the province.

Very noble endevour.
You mention Coltart, I'd like to know if you're working in conjuction with his department as well as ZC.
My suggestion to you would be to endear yourself to the Zanu-PF councillors in those constituencies, even those who lost to MDC candidates. They could use the political mileage. Biti may hold the purse strings but the serious revenue doesn't pass through him, and Coltart isn't exactly trusted by them either. Your intentions are sincere but it would be naive to ignore the political implications which affect the success of any project of any level in this day and age. Some of the local medium to large companies whose sponsorship will no doubt be needed for various forms of support, probably toe that line already, so you'll be forced to fall in line before you go far. That's the cold hard truth.
Draft a plan to pilot it to just one of the better districts not the entire Province. Share it with us and we'll stand a better chance of contributing meaningfully at that scale. Those results will give us a better picture of the timeframes, personel, funding and equipment etc needed to roll it out at a provincial scale. Apart from our modest personal contributions of a strategic&practical nature, a viable case study, will better help us to direct you to other various avenues for publicity and financial support through foreign organisations who may be interested in chipping in.
Either way, all the best. I'm impressed by your initiative.

Re: Dear Forumites(Manicaland Developement Plan)
Current programme
Under 13/14 Selects
There is no club cricket at Junior level in Manicaland , so we are planning to have four select sides play each other .
The select sides will be picked from the ten primary schools that play cricket in Mutare district .(Hillcrest Prep, Chancellor Junior ,Mutare Junior , Baring Primary ,and others are some of the schools in mind for the current project )
Young people lack regular playing time and the select sides will be a good opportunity for them to develop their skills on the field .
I am yet to decide on the format , but some of the coaches had suggested a game to be played over one day divided into with a team having two innings of 25 overs each .
We are in discussions with a few coporates to sponsor this set up. Hopefully to be carried out during all the school holidays . December , April & August of every year .
Future plans
Set up a Under 16/17 programme
Obtain land from Municipality to set up another ground (Mutare Sports Club is mostly used for Logan cup and club games.
I know these programmes will be producing the youngsters you will be talking about in 5 years time or even earlier . Kevin Kasuza the youngster who is a future prosepect for Zim is a product of a mini project that we carried out 3 years ago . We got together and resolved to help some of the kids who were in school to play for a club were they got some support in terms of busfare & lunch (during the time of the economic meltdown ).These may be petty issues to some of you but these can make or break a young person to continue playing cricket in ZIm .If Takashinga managed to feed Zim cricket then another feeder is going to blossom from the eastern highlands and expand the player base for Zim .
