For crying out loud - DROP KYLE JARVIS!

Post by hhm »

In another post I wrote that something was very fishy! Implying that deliberate strategies were being employed to limit the chances of success for certain players, while other are shown favour. With the way failed avenues continue to be exhausted, in an attempt to protect Jarvis, or conceal his mediocrity, I am resigned to the belief that this is entirely true.

-Price, Utseya & Shingi were used in the optional batting powerplay - no Jarvis(premier bowler); Elton & Price used in the optional bowling powerplay – once again, no Jarvis(premier bowler). As a result only Elton & Shingi got canned. Jarvis clearly receiving protection!
-How on earth can you have a lower order bat like Oram fresh from a wicket that's just fallen, and not unleash your 'trusted seamer' on him! Instead, you task Hami. Is Jarvis carrying the bowling, or is the rest of the bowling carrying him?
-Jarvis last bowled in the 10th over, the score was 49/0. By the 32nd over, the score was 200 and he wasn't even brought on, even for just one over!
-Jarvis only resumed bowling in the 42nd over! By that time the score was 261/4!
-Even then, he contributed towards the 111 runs which were scored in that period, including the worst over of the match(48th - 25runs) largely at the hands of a 19yr old!!!!!!
-48 runs off 4overs!! That's pathetic, I don’t care what you say!
-His average now sits at 46.62 after 15ODIs, and his economy 6.27. Surely for someone who's meant to be the leading light for us against top quality opposition cannot be allowed to persist with such stats against them!!!!! (Mupariwa just had a game recenlty - better bet?)

In his defense, some of you may want to argue, that Taylor may have reasoned that he's reserving him for the last ten overs. Don't be foolish, save it!!!! It was long evident that the game is beyond us! The role of your premier fast bowler is to take wickets at crucial times - Hami was preferred instead!

THE BOY IS SIMPLY POOR & INEFFECTIVE! FOR CRYING OUT LOUD – DROP HIM!!!!

In the Zimbabwe's entire ODI playing history, of anyone who's bowled at least 15 innings, Jarvis' average is among the worst! He comfortably sits second worst among the worst economy rates for the same assessment! Even if we lump him with bowlers/part-timers who haven't bowled more innings than him, he's still SHIT, and his economy looks in place with the mediocre options! Comparatively, Hamilton is clearly of better value than Jarvis as a bowler!

Of all the talk of dropping Hamilton, Matsi & Regis, Jarvis is most deserving! He continues to he hidden during crucial times in Tests & ODIs, but the results remain appalling! Taylor himself missed the trick once again by not playing himself as an opener. Indirectly, he may be impacting the chances of Waller, who continues to fail in the easy middle order!

I'm sorry guys, but your defense of Jarvis is wrong, and your hopes severely misplaced! You're welcome to dispute this - the proverbial head dipped in sand, but there's only one eventuality to this – egg in face once it's out!

God change the tune it's boring! You're boring. Why have you made another thread about the subject ? We know where you stand, and we know how you feel about Kyle, Cremer, Vitori and all the other bright lights in zimbabwe. Everyone on the forum knows you just want to see the old guard return and run us even further into the ground. Ok Kyle hasn't bowled well, but he's done better than Rainsford would ever have been able to do.

do us all a favor Hhm, and SHUT UP about the whole argument. You're getting a reputation of being an arrogant, argumentative forumer. you write well and you normally put across good arguments, but you're beginning to bore me to death with it all and it's really un motivating to comment.

You're the only one who thinks Jarvis is not going to be a bright spark (and he is already), and you're entitled to do that, but don't insult people like ZIMDOGGY just because we have favorite players, just like you and Rainsford, Panyangara etc.

Sort it

This is a very early contender for post of the year.

I don't know what's worse, watching Zimbabwe get hammered again or having to read the smug, dull, one-note repetitive posts by hhm.

Wrong, you're just using 'petty denialism, aggrieved fellow' tactics as an excuse. I feel nothing ill towards any of those boys, neither is it simply a case of my wanting my favorites! Feelings have got nothing to do with it! Poor performances are just that POOR, and all I'm doing is highlighting it, not hating! Not my problem if you can't take it!
...but he's done better than Rainsford would ever have been able to do.
That's just you being delusional! I could afford you an eternity and you still wouldn't be able to provide me with a inkling of evidence on the contrary!

Don't you think I'm not equally annoyed/bored to listen to some comments constantly talking them up when reality points to something different!? Do what I do, ignore the topics or posts that you're not interested it! You just hate the fact that Jarvis is not even managing to pick up just two wickets consistently, let alone five-fors, at an acceptable rate, and you wish he proves me wrong but he won't! That's what annoys you - the truth behind my statements/predictions. At this rate, he just like Vitori will have to be dropped, and let's hope for your sake, that replacement does no better!

Nothing malicious intended, my apologies to Zimdoggy if he feels I insulted him, but I doubt he'll view it that way.

The Protectionist Theory which I totally buy. Either its that or Taylor is not a very clever captain. Maybe he has orders from above. Maybe Jarvis Dad is the one who determines where and how often kyle will bowl(Shucks this thing runs deeper than we thought!) Zimdoggy that coven of cultists is very much alive and includes more people than we expected. Hamilton who is a proven partnership breaker comes on when partnerships are established. After 35 runs a partnership NEEDS to be broken.

I like Jarvis. I have always thought that he should be a Test specialist - he has done very well in Test matches - our leading wicket taker since return so obviously he has a lot to offer.

Can we just stop debating this in ever post. hhm thinks Rainsford, Panyangara, and Mutendera are better, others think Jarvis, Vitori, and Mpofu are better. Let's just leave it at that. There is no way of knowing how good/bad Rainsford would have done in yesterday's match because he didn't play in it. Jarvis clearly needs to improve but then Rainsford was no big deal when he was playing either. I think in all of this people are forgetting how tough NZ are to beat at home in ODIs. New Zealand has always been a graveyard even for the best teams of this world, I remember a few years back when India barely made it to three figures in most of the ODIs. Now Zimbabwe should be doing better than they are but they are not the first to be humiliated by a powerful NZ side at home (remember this NZ team made the World Cup semi finals).
