charles choppa coventry

Post by zimstarr »

does anyone know why coventry is not playing he is one of the hardest hitters of a cricket ball in zim . t20 is his bread n butter he hits sixes for fun , imagine its the t20 wc zim needs 30 n there r 9 balls left coventry can grab a victory when all hope is lost .i urge the selectors to give him a chance . at the world cup he was sent to open the batting which is not his normal position and they wr experimenting n it ddnt work out or he only played 3 games had they played him in his normal position he would have relished playing against spin in india . the t20 world cup pitches in sri lanka r spin friendly pitches they would suit him .chakabva ,ervine, matsikenyeri, r not t 20 playersthey r exceptional test n odi batsmen they should go overseas to perfect their craft we cant have the same team playing all three formats

To me charles chopper is probaly going through a hard time, may be some psychological support would help since they is a lot of hype about him i havent seen him do much chakabva, masti probaly derseve a spot in the middle order since they havee been putting runs on board, the team should be built on present perfomances and form not past heroics.

But Coventry does have the talent and the ability to come off and on his day, he can match Taylor for power and stroke making ability. He is well and truly, 100%, Zzimbabwe's wild card, but he should be used

May be our beloved chopper needs to spend a bit more time with grant flower our batting coach, if the resources allow may be some batting consultancy on five batesman who have seemed to have lost form over the couple of years eg Terrence duffin, gaving ewing, charles coventry, chamu chibhabha, forster mutizwa. :?: :?:

Zimlover i understand what angle u r coming from but i think t 20 is a very short game like sloandog was saying he has the quality to match taylors short making abilities his strike rate speaks for itself 166.66 for t20s , chigumbura is 152 chibhabhas last t20 match he scored 65 of 39 balls 5 sixes and 4 fours vs new zealand

Trully u cant look at strike rate alone if a player players 2 balls and get out with 2 runs he will have a strike rate of 100% right? but i would rather put in some one who gets 7 runs foms 30 balls even if the strike rate is lower he has managed to contribute runs.None the less zim batesman need external consultancy

Coventry is suited to T20 more than any other format! He hits 6's, he hits the ball large, and he has oodles of talent. In the shortest format he should be used in every game

Choppa rocks!!! get him in the side, much better option than chakbva who is primarily a test player candidate

Agree with jimbo on this one, Choppa over Chakabva any day in a T20.
I really don't get why Chakabva keeps on getting picked for a slogger's game when he isn't that much of a slogger? After all a pretty defence ain't gonna get you sixes.
On the other hand, Choppa bats like a tailender, but the few balls he faces sure will fly outta the park.

I am not an advocate for Coventary in the team, because he has been out of form BUT there maybe a story behind his exclusion, just a suspicion though.
