Anyway at least they are on tour, 14 months before the next WC too so at least ZC are putting some effort in this time. There's a few of the higher profile boys missing - I'm guessing they are unavailable with school in SA/UK or something.

The U19 girls are also at the same place in India currently. Their U19WC is in this coming January.

It's the same 'academy' that the 'U23's ( ) and the senior women went to a few months ago.

Apparently Rajput is head coach for this tour....which I'm sure everyone will be delighted about

What is the strength of the oppo? Can anyone shed light on that? Maybe our subcontinental posters.

I mean is the OMTEX ICWC national? Is it just a Mumbai select? Is it equivalent of playing Mashonaland U19s or something else?

No mate, never heard of this team, it could be some state U19 players, not sure.

The trouble is if you don't get them to concentrate on longer format when they're young they'll be unlikely to ever manage it when they're older, that will simply kill any future for Zim cricket in anything other than the close your eyes and slog it short forms

You’re too late. We already have no future in Test cricket.

Therefore, as sad as it is, might as well focus on T20 and be future-looking.

Depends on how you define "future"? Will ZC ever be the best Test side in the world? No. But it is theoretically possible with the current setup and system to gain promotion to the WTC. It may take 8 or 16 years (following the ICC's four year cycles), but its very possible. You can only dominate the opposition in front of you, and ZIM/IRE/AFG need to either dominate each other, or display a sustained marked improvement in their cricket, or grab the opportunities that come against WTC sides, however rare they may be.

For example, a win vs Windies or even a 0-0 draw, would go a long ways to putting hands up for inclusion in the next WTC cycle.
