A fairly meaningless match, but a good chance to rest a couple of guys with injury niggles like Ervine. I'm guessing Madande is more serious and we probably won't see him again this tournament? After this game we have a decent break until the first Super Six game. I would select the following team:
1. Joylord Gumbie (w)
2. Innocent Kaia
3. Wesley Madhevere
4. Sean Williams (c)
5. Sikandar Raza
6. Ryan Burl
7. Brad Evans
8. Wellington Masakadza
9. Richard Ngarava
10. Tendai Chatara
11. Blessing Muzarabani

Is there gonna be an injury replacement for Madande?
Re: Zimbabwe Vs United States | ICC CWC Qualifier | 26 June 2023
They either play Marumani or stick with Overlord which frees up a spot for Luke or Brad.
Gumbie is untried as Keeper and then opening. Thats a tough gig

Yes, it is an irrelevant match and Kaia, Evans, Jongwe must be tried out. Great chance to rest Ervine, Blessing and may be even Raza. Madande is out anyways so there is a chance to even play Marumani.eugene wrote: ↑Sat Jun 24, 2023 4:50 pmA fairly meaningless match, but a good chance to rest a couple of guys with injury niggles like Ervine. They should be allowed an official replacement for Madande, will be interesting to see who will they look at! Shumba, Myers or Campbell.
Re: Zimbabwe Vs United States | ICC CWC Qualifier | 26 June 2023
My only concern about resting guys is that they seem to be in form and it is an eleven day break if they don't play on Monday.

There will be a few days rest after the group matches which players can recover from. Would only rest players who have niggling injuries
Re: Zimbabwe Vs United States | ICC CWC Qualifier | 26 June 2023
Dave said in the press conference that he will be looking to use the rest of the squad.
Mandade and Ervine are deffo out, imagine that Chatara will also be rested. Marumani, Kaia, Evans and Jongwe all likely to play.

The only guys I’d be resting are the seamers, it’s always good to give them a few days off.
I’d be tempted to draft in Mavuta for Madande and throw him straight in so we can rest all 3 seamers.
Kaia
Gumbie
Marumani
Williams
Raza
Wes
Burl
Jongwe
Evans
Mavuta
Wellington
I’d assume we could strangle the USA with spin, but as Eugene said it’s a meaningless match si who cares if we lose.

I do think it is important we win. A winning team makes a habit of winning.

On second thought, I’d probably change my batting order. I’d stick with Wes at No.3 and play Marumani down the order at No.7 to play that late order hitter or finishing role.
It might actually be a good way to get Tadiwanashe into the ODI team without the pressure of opening. It also makes more sense than pushing Burl down to No.7 he needs to be moving up the order rather than moving down it.
1. Innocent Kaia
2. Joylord Gumbie
3. Wes Madhevere
4. Sean Williams
5. Sikander Raza
6. Ryan Burl
7. Tadiwanashe Marumani
8. Luke Jongwe
9. Brad Evans
10. Wellington Masakadza
11. * Brandon Mavuta
