Re: Series Thread Logan Cup 2008/2009
Logan cup starts in two weeks time and i believe this will be a better way to asses the talent in Zimbabwe as we all know that the 4 day game usually ends up with the most talented players excelling rather than the short format where limited players can be effective
the players that need to step up to the plate in order to push for a spot in the national team are
Malcom waller
Mark vermulen
Charles coventry
manyamwa
garwe
players who we need to watch out for are
PJ moor (may be unavailable due to school)
N Waller (Same applies)
R Kayia ( Same applies)
Keith kondo
Richmand Mutumbami
Duggie hondo

Re: Series Thread Logan Cup 2008/2009
Will the grounds at Alexandra Sports Club and Old Hararians be up to staging first class cricket? Recent photos of these grounds showed them being somewhat in disrepair.

Re: Series Thread Logan Cup 2008/2009
Well,Logan Cup will be an important tournament for all the players as their selection will be depended on their performance of Logan Cup.
I would follow:
Mark Vermeulen
Charles Coventry
Malcolm Waller
Douglas Hondo
The performance of young players like Timycen Maruma,Admire Manyamwa,
Peter Moore,Nathen Waller also including the national team players will be under
microscope.

Re: Series Thread Logan Cup 2008/2009
Logan Cup is with us again
AFTER the Faithwear combo series served out its last, and the actors regrouped into secluded teams – the national team and Zimbabwe A for some international slogging quickly thereafter, the domestic mandarins are back with the crowd, and you guessed it right – the Logan Cup is with us again.
Zimbabwe A team’s sojourn in Namibia was as successful and it can ever be and the national team’s visit to the sub continent playing in the game’s biggest candidate India, drew some positives. The players who left after the Faithwear series for international engagements are back for the Logan Cup.
It could have been a roasting for Centrals in the lottery of One Day games, winning just one, albeit the last one that really saved one purpose – face saving. But the Logan Cup a, four day encounter with reality, offers a different kittle of fish and there are no clear bets even for the all conquering Easterns, coached by the eccentric Steven Mangongo.
The Logan Cup goes in full swing Tuesday week and Northerns, who took Easterns on a swing in the Faithwear series before running out of steam on the final lap open their account with Centrals who despite playing some good one day cricket, finished bottom of the log.
Their match at Harare Sports Club will be played at the same time Easterns engage Westerns at Zimbabwe Cricket Academy running from Tuesday to Friday next week. The second round sees Northerns engage Westerns at Alexandra Sports Club while Centrals receive Easterns at Old Hararians between March 31- 3 April.
Such would be the intensity of the compelling Tests that just three days after round two teams go back to battle again, with Westerns engaging Centrals at Harare Sports Club while Northerns engage Easterns in a battle of rivals at the Academy grounds. The matches will be played between April 6-9.
Teams will break for 12 days before resuming action with Alexandra Sports Club playing host to the Northerns and Centrals encounter while Easterns negotiate with Westerns at Old Hararians between April 21-24.
Northerns will play their fifth Test against Westerns at the Academy from April 28-1 May, the same day Centrals do battle against Easterns at Harare Sports Club before the last round of matches sees Westerns and Centrals closing shop at OH with just across the road at Alex, Northerns and Easterns finish their brazen negotiations before a time induced truce at the presentations for the winners.

Yes, Cricinfo in their infinite wisdom have given a page to Pete Moore: http://content.cricinfo.com/zimbabwe/co ... 94445.html as well as Peter Moor: http://content.cricinfo.com/zimbabwe/co ... 33000.html - I half expected to see the profile of Eward Painsford but that was not to be.zimfan1 wrote:muyendesi wrote:how old is n waller and pete moore? cricinfo has no info on them two. Re: Series Thread Logan Cup 2008/2009
i am just has shocked that them two grounds will be hosting some logan games. One hope that zim cricket must have done something about the state of the two grounds. i think the groundsmen at harare sports club can also be used to maintain the grounds.ZC has enough money to maintain the grounds.I think bvute or banda talked about zc helping clubs to maintain the grounds. :alan132 wrote:Will the grounds at Alexandra Sports Club and Old Hararians be up to staging first class cricket?
