Your First XIs - vs Australia A, India

Post by brmtaylor.com admin »

For the game against Australia A, I'd go strong as our Test team needs as much exposure as possible. Also it will be a good warm up for the ODI series, albeit different formats it's important for our guys to have time in the middle.

1. Sibanda
2. Mawoyo
3. H Masakadza
4. Taylor (c)
5. Waller
6. Williams
7. Mutumbami (wk)
8. Cremer
9. S Masakadza
10. Vitori
11. Jarvis

For the 1st ODI vs India:

1. H Masakadza
2. Sibanda
3. Raza
4. Taylor (c/wk)
5. Williams
6. Waller
7. Chigumbura
8. Utseya
9. S Masakadza
10. Vitori
11. Jarvis

I agree full strength side for Aus A match or matches ? Using the practice as good preparation for the 4 up coming tests. I'm torn on whether to give Elton another go or stick with Waller, I think Elton gives you a better chance of winning with he's extra bowling and explosive batting but he is very inconsistent as we all know. Waller on the other hand is a much safer option he is more secure with the bat but I can't see him influencing the match as much as Elton could, Williams must play no matter what. Bowling is same as BD series except Rainsford in for Meth as the consistent line and length bowler who balances well the strike bowlers Jarvis and Shingi.

1.T.Mawoyo
2.V.Sibanda
3.H.Masakadza
4.B.Taylor
5.S.Williams
6.R.Chakabva w/k
7.E.Chigumbura / M.Waller
8.G.Cremer
9.S.Masakadza
10.K.Jarvis
11.E.Rainsford
12.B.Vitori

As for the ODI's I've had a change of heart and brought back Ray Price as the spinner, he is more economical than Utseya and takes more wickets. Even though Shingi is expensive I think it's important that they he plays bowling 1st change and batting @ number 8 giving the side some late order hitting with Elton, Shingi is just ahead of Meth for this spot. Again I've picked Rainsford as the new ball bowler with Brian Vitori, Jarvis and Tendai Chatara rotating around Eddy. The batsman pick themselves.

1.V.Sibanda
2.H.Masakadza
3.S.R.Butt
4.B.Taylor w/k
5.S.Williams
6.M.Waller
7.E.Chigumbura
8.S.Masakadza
9.R.Price
10.B.Vitori / K.Jarvis / T.Chatara
11.E.Rainsford

I agree 100%.

Both sides make sense and look good.

I would love to see how Price handles Australia.
