Under 17 Week

A week of Under 17 cricket (Next under 19s) is starting tomorrow.

They have split the six franchise sides from the last regional series (Eagles had two sides) into three teams and have also included an Under 23 side.

From this then the Under 17 national side will be selected to play South Africa Under 17s who are touring Zimbabwe from September 18th.

Ones to look out for are Viljoen, Martell, Gambiza, Muyambo, Hlabangane, Konson, Mudzengerere, Muduma, Zuze, Patel. I don't know much about most of the others.

It's a very lean batch....

Abhiraj Singh looked a very decent prospect from what I have seen.

30 year old Clive Chitumba hitting an unbeaten century for an 'Under 23' side against a U17 team full of 16 year olds. Hope he's proud!

Assume that a few guys in South Africa and maybe the UK will also be in contention at some point over the next two years?

Mudenda is going for SA U19 selection as his first preference.

Not sure these days who else, if anyone, is in SA or English schools.
