Zimbabwe Batting Crisis

Post by zimfan1 »

I think this needs it own thread now it has got so severe.

I had a look at all the innings this year and found that we have only passed 200 three times in 24 innings (ignoring the qualifiers).
54, 127, 103, 145, 133, 57, 108, 204, 145, 210, 197, 152, 159, 134, 115, 138, 156, 138, 124, 82, 178, 143, 96 and 208.
Face it that we have no recent memories of scoring runs or chasing large targets. And I can't see this trend changing against a very good Afghanistan attack. I said before the series that Nick Welch and Campbell were lucky to miss this series as it would get messy, with an on paper easier series against Ireland to come in Feb.

But what are the answers? Try new guys or give these guys more chances or move on from the big three?

I have come to the conclusion that whatever we try it won't work. Just a reality check as to where we are in the world.

Should open a thread for the bowling crisis as well. ZC must know something we don't because surely we have to be close to losing funding and full membership.

Would they really? We meet the criteria like a comprehensive first class system, women’s cricket. New NPL this season for them and they’re on the next FTP.

There’s no blatantly open quota like SA have had for years. Back in the fold with the England test, we seem to host a lot of qualifiers and were in the running for the women’s World Cup when Bangladesh couldn’t host, and certain other boards know they can count on Mr Makoni’s voting in certain ICC elections.

We all know there’s more stuff going down but on the face of it, we’re just turning in some terrible results at the moment.

We aren’t all whenwe’s but we are all keyboard warriors  if anyone tuned into bayhaus last night the pathway to change was laid out. Set up your own club in a provincial league and eventually work up to getting voting rights on the big stage to get rid of the current board (in theory  )

Complaining online and even boycotts and placards at the ground is just going through the motions.
