Losers vs Afghanistan | 3rd LOI | 21 December 2024

Post by Pat_Bee »

Whatever the toss, hopefully the Afghans bat first. Don’t want it all to be over in two hours, it’s Saturday ffs

I’d have Kaitano in for Marumani. Chill old BC out a bit batting with his Rhinos mate.

I want to see the boys make a good go of it, bat 50 overs, the score secondary to that.

Marumani needs a rest. I'd want Kaitano in if they're planning on opening him for the Test. I think they should be playing Gumbie anyway, but he needs game time too if he's playing in the Tests. They'll probably rest Richie and put Nyauchi in as a safe swap. Welly should come in for Maposa- there seems to be enough turn there to give him a shout.

I'll be back in here pretty quickly if Marumani is playing and they've dropped Curran. Unlikely, but wouldn't surprise me.

It jus hasn't been happening for Maru he does need a rest let put Kaitano in preparation for the test. Game time will be good for him and Ben Curran as well.

You could say that about any of them. Maru has had 59 internationals to date.

If you go onto espn cricinfo on a player profile and scroll down to stats guru analysis, then click on whatever format u want to check then click on match list it's all laid out there.

If you check Maru's 17 ODI innings they're spread over 4 years. It basically averages out at one series a year.
I looked at Ervine's and his average out at about 2 series a year. Joe Root has played about 5 a year.
It's an almost impossible task to improve playing one or two series a year is my point.

If Joe Root had been in our system he would, at best, have Williams' stats.

I've just been going through our players. It makes woeful reading. Guys regularly go 7 innings or more without contributing and yet keep getting picked. If they're the best we've got it's understandable, if they're not it's a borderline crime

AFG have won the toss - they're bowling first.

That's not good. Surely Afghanistan want to bat 50 overs?

Dion dropped with Gumbie coming in. Unsure of the logic there, but whatever.

Gumbie for Marumani was the obvious call

I don't mind it. Nobody should feel like they can't be dropped. We need competition

Dion was "undroppable" for a week.
They can't even stick with one line of poor decisions, they like to make plenty of them.
