Tendulkar's time as the only remaining player from the 80's was short lived. Ajay Jadeja has come out of retirement to captain Haryana. Jadeja made his debut in the same season as Tendulkar, who also features in the current Ranji Trophy match between Mumbai and Haryana, in 1988/89.

It's a pretty interesting game in progress. Mumbai are 6/190 chasing 240 for victory. The last recognised batsman, Tendulkar, is on 50 not out and batting with the tail. Could be a tight finish. The stream is at http://www.cricmelive.com/osn-sports-hd ... eaming.php if anyone wants to watch.

74 for Tendulkar in what will be, barring some incredible batting by the West Indies, his final Test innings.

You have to admire his longevity; a career spanning four decades in elite professional sport is pretty rare. This is the last time we can say an 80s player is still playing international cricket.

A great batsman who's probably played his last international innings, unless WI do something spectacular. I've been watching this match with the sound mostly off, as the commentary makes my stomach churn: there's more schmooze and ululation than at Bob's birthday party!
Peterhouse U14C 4th change bowler and no. 10 batsman (but only because Aaron didn't have a bat).
