Tamim and Mushy don't opt out of anything. Real warriors. Tamim is recovering fron multiple fractures in his fingers. Missed the Pakistan Tests also.

Bangladesh will do well if they can keep NZ to around 250-275 by stumps and nip out 5-6 wickets.
Glad my lunchtime prediction ended up being accurate. Got a couple of lucky wickets, but thats the game sometimes (Conway could have been given out lbw for a duck and instead went on to get a hundred).
Need to try and keep them to around 400. And then look to get through to stumps tomorrow with as few casualties as possible.
Shanto and Mominul need to step up. Its their time.

OK, yeah mate, Tamim and Mushi surely are always committed to Bangladesh cricket. Shakib has often looked distracted.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 3:04 pmTamim and Mushy don't opt out of anything. Real warriors. Tamim is recovering fron multiple fractures in his fingers. Yes, impressive stuff from Bangladesh so far. Bowling NZL out for 328 and now Bangla boys putting up a solid batting display at 109/1.
Great start to the new year for Bangladesh.

Joy showing his worth with a solid 50. Now Bangladesh needs to get rid of Shadman, Saif and bring in Pinak as opener to join Joy

Nah Pinak hasn't even been consistent in domestic FC. Tamim and Joy will partner for the next few years till Tamim retires. Then my money is on Tanzid Hasan Tamim (Joy's U19 teammate) to open with Joy. Tamim Jr averages 35+ with a 80+ strike rate so far early in his FC career. He should soon get that average up around 40+.Rajkumar Sharma wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 4:39 amJoy showing his worth with a solid 50. Fully Bangladesh's day here. If it was any other team and not NZ, I'd suspect they were a bit complacent.
I think the problem with Bangladesh of late has been the weight of expectation coupled with completely misreading their own home conditions. They pick 4 spinners on tracks that don't end up turning (West Indies series) and also get bewildered by pitches that turn sharp sporadically (Pakistan) series. In between there were complete blunders like not making a flat track (Zimbabwe series 2018) at Sylhet and getting bogged down by expectation and fear (Afghanistan 2019).
Here in New Zealand...no expectations and less fear of failure has led to more clarity of thought. At least thats the only thing I can think of that explains these bipolar performances.
At any rate, Bangladesh ahead in this Test, but there are still 2 innings to go after this. Bangladesh has to take advantage of this start and look to score well in excess of 400. Any lead of under 100 runs and NZ will pounce on us in the 2nd innings. That being said, Bangladesh could still collapse for 250 all out from here and give NZ a big lead.
Mushfiq and Liton are in great form, and that gives cause for optimism here. They will need to score tomorrow.

Nothing his happening for the pacers Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui pitch seems fully flat. Kiwis going to miss Ajaz Patel in 5th day could have exploited the cracks and troubled BD batters.
Bangladesh were also in strong position against Pak in first test but they collapsed when it mattered most
