I didn't realise how well Jarvis stacked up internationally until I saw those stats. Very good numbers.

And it also shows just by how far Cremer is our best bowler, and how important it is that we have a fit and firing Chatara in the team.

I put Jarvis in there for the fun of it, and separately, even though he's actually not part of Zimbabwe's bowling stocks, and may never play for Zimbabwe again (just like Sean Ervine...until now at least).

Again, pointless to discuss Cremer too since he's captain, and won't drop himself whatever the case might be, but all comments welcome either way.

What I was really looking for was reactions around the Mumba, Ngarava, Mpofu, Tiripano etc.

My take is suppose we give Heath Streak the benefit of the doubt. Even in soccer/football, few managers want to claim success on the back of players who arguably aren’t yours, so it’s understandable that Streak has kicked out a few (particularly batsmen), and also done the same to bowlers. It also explains why he was eager to use Vitori despite his illegal bowling, because maybe he feels he can lay claim to him. But he did ignore Chatara for longer than we expected, even after he had recovered. So let’s see:
1.Bring in Ngarava and Mumba so you can build what will essentially your legacy. Again Streak could argue, they are out-and-out fast bowlers (unlike Jongwe and Madziva) who are also young Same treatment given to Mupariwa.
2.Cremer is already there as captain and lead spinner, so with Raza, Sean and Malcolm, I don’t have to pick Chisoro and Wellington, considering those three are capable batsmen in their own right, whose bowling is arguably comparable(in his opinion) to those two others.
3.Time to move on from Panyangara, but I’ll keep Tiripano who is also a workhorse but has an advantage in that he can bat.
4.Chatara injured or unfit, Mumba had a tough time, so instead of Shingi/Panyangara I'll go with again a player I can lay claim to - Mpofu.

That's my take on Heath Streak's thinking. I'm cracking my cracking my head trying to make sense of it, and I think these are the only arguments I could make in his favour considering what Zimbabwe has at its disposal.

As for Hhm's comments you're probably right Streak plays favourites but what coach / manager doesn't ? In the end of the day they 'live and die' by their results so they should have the team they want. Streak has made no secret he wants to find some quick bowlers he did it when he was in charge a few years back and now he's trying to fast track Mumba & Ngarava.

I do feel for Madziva & Jongwe but although they're two players I really like I'm excited by the potential Mumba & Ngarava have.

A. Shingi's test records are quoted wrong, for example. He hasn't played 16 tests.
B. The arbitrary "30 years and under" age limit set for shorter formats is to hide how bad Panyangara's numbers look in ODIs.
C. That drivel about favoritism is so full of speculative text that even parts of what is correct (like Mpofu) is lost when one brings in illogical stuff about cases like Jongwe and Wellington.

The thing is, no one has backed shingi.
Not butcher, not Streak, not Waller, kaschula, Campbell, taibu mangongo etc
White guys and black guys before the racial card is played.

There's been no media about shingi getting rough treatment, not by him or his brothers. No one.

And he's a decent lower order hat to boot.

To me, the signs are that there is clearly a deficiency to shingi we aren't seeing. Our stocks have been low at times with injury and we still pick offical plods like muzurabani.

Please may nobody feel bad for Shingi. He's the opposite to Hami, who is a likable guy. Shingi thinks he owns cricket in this country, he's the kingpin at Mountaineers and has more pull than the coaches. He is a proper ZANU fool and doesn't know what manners are.

At what point do your move on from a player. Shingi has shown he has the goods. And should be considered. At the moment Zimbabwe just needs its best players. The youngsters can do the A stuff. Its sad when you see guys like Jaure being picked for A team duties when you have players like Musoko, Nyauchi, etc
