As an American attempting to understand Test Cricket, I need some help on this one. Why would the West Indies agree to a draw when they could play tomorrow and have a good chance of surpassing 179 to 220 runs on the final day?

Thank you in advance.
Today was the final day. At the time they agreed to draw, only 15 overs (1 hour) was left in the match which was not enough to get a decisive result
Then that is where my error was. I thought Test Cricket was a five-day, not four-day match.
You’ve miscounted. This Test WAS 5 days.

Don’t be confused by all the Boxing Day 4 day Test talk. That’s all experimental bullshit and has never been done before.

No different than next weeks Denver Broncos game going over 50 minutes instead of 60 to see what it’s like

The fact that Jarvis was out injured, Cremer wasn't his usual destructive self, and BRMT and Ervine didn't show-up, but we still got a draw is quite remarkable. Quite an encouraging result really.
BRMT and Ervine I suspect have a weakness against spin on turning pitches. Playing spin is actually harder than playing pace. With pace, if there is movement you come forward and play late. Spin is a bit trickier i feel. For all his criticisms Bishoo is a decent spinner too. He may not be as talented as Cremer, but he gets the job done especially on helpful surfaces.

Besides the quip about it being the worst Test side (obviously not true) this might be the most sensible thing you've ever posted here.
Really? But even at the worst of times I can't recall a time ever, when Zimbabwe went into a Test match without a bowling attack.

The first post-rebel saga test against SL we pretty much had no attack due to the inexperience of our lineup, Taibu even had to bowl.

Why don't you list those attacks and the kind of batsmen they had to bowl to then we take it from there.

There was obviously some talent eventually in that lineup what with Panyangara, Utseya, and Chigumbura, but at the time they were nowhere near ready, hence SL racking up 541 all out, including 281 for the first wicket.

Looks like the umpring howles balanced themselves out...and even then both sides have only themselves to blame for wasting reviews in the manner they did. I think a draw was a very fair result in the end. If only ZIM's top order had fired. Collective collapse of 63-7 across both innings!

Is this match thread a record for ZCF?

Just imagine if ZCF had been around for the 1999 CWC!

I think one of the Tests vs BD was this long.
