Can Zim U-19s do better than the senior team?

Post by CrimsonAvenger »

The U-19 team is playing a series in Bangladesh from Nov 8th, and here is an article from The Zimbabwean: http://www.thezimbabwean.co.uk/20091102 ... -tour.html
Below is the full team called into camp.
Brian Chari, Stephen Chimhamiwa, Gary Chirimuta, Takudzwa Mawudzi, Mxolisi Dube, Edzai Jaure, Roy Kaia, Dean Mazhawidza, Tinashe Mhora, Simon Mugava, Natsai Mushangwe, Tinotenda Mutombodzi, Richard Muzhange, Scott Daly and Mazvita Zambuko.
If this is the team will travel, then, where is Dylon Higgins?

Final Year exams!!!!!

As i suppose Nathen Waller and Andrew Lidnsey ares well. We need to remember that nearly all the side have been playing cricket in term time which suggests that they are not taking there A levels as schools in Zimbabwe (sixth forms) have only just finished around three weeks ago and the exam season is in full swing.

I can only see this tour resulting in a series of heavy defeats. Bangladesh are pretty strong at junior level, especially at home. They have just beaten England in an U19 series, so I don't think there is much hope, especially after the thrashing that Pakistan handed out. I'd be looking for some strong indiviual performances, and some experience of subcontinent conditions that will hopefully stand these players in good stead for the future.

1)Dylon higgins
2)Craig dollar
3)Pj moor
4)Nathan waller
5)Cullium price
i dont expect the team selected to do anything special, but its good opportunity for some players to show their talent.
It is important to stand up for what is right.

Dylon Higgins = Taking Exams
Craig Dollar = Injured broken leg which also kept him out of representing Zimbabwe rugby under 19's at craven week.
PJ Moor = Injured leg and now is working his way back to full fitness and should be back in time for the world cup
Nathen Waller = Taking Exams
5) Cullum Price = Unkown

I wonder if Takudzwa Mawudzi is Jethro Maudzi who scored a ton for the Mountaineers on debut last week?

From the 19 players that were selected for the ODI's against Pakistan there are 6 all together that have not been named in this 15.

As well as Higgins, Waller, Price and Lindsay there is also wicket keeper Chisaka and Chitara who made his senior debut for Mountaineers in the same Logan match as Higgins played for Rhinos.

I guess that, one day, we will find out whether we have a Scott Daly (The Zimbabwean) or a Daly Scott (cricinfo), i seem to remember that he also appeared at first as Scott Daillie according to Cricket Archive, but i notice that he is D Scott there now as well.

Anyone know what happened to Edzai Jaure during the Pakistan series ? he didn't appear at all then, nor for Mountaineers where he is listed as being a squad member by cricinfo.

It's gonna be a very tough tour for Zimbabwe U-19 team. As Bangladesh is a strong competitor in the U-19 level. We have beaten most of the major Test cricketing nation's U-19 team in the past. The present Bangladesh U-19 team is a very strong one. They have just beaten England U-19 team a four day match and won the ODI series 5-2 comprehensively. Earlier Bangladesh U-19 had a good overseas series at England wining the ODI series 2-1.

It's going to be a learning curve for the Zimbabwe youngsters.

Welcome to Bangladesh. :)
