A good bit of gardening and a lick of paint and it would be good. All the clubhouses are old and not much thought went into aesthetics. Alex used to be a powerhouse cricket club. The games between them and OH across the road were excellent. A lot of soccer is played there now, but the guys tend to dodge the membership subscription issue and hence there’s not a lot of money in the club.
Unless people wrap their heads around having to pay to play these clubs will never get back on their feet. There’s a shit attitude of taking advantage of amenities instead of joining up and taking pride in your club. Just put a boom at the gate and show your paid up member’s badge or go and play on the street, there’s no other way.

Ok so far our situation seems to be ensure we beat Scotland, hope Windies dont get an upset against a contender.
Uae and the dutch may rip each other a bit and go into the super sixes at disabling handicap.
If we can then beat at lkeast one of WI and ireland and the expected win against the UA/dutch we are in right?

Interesting to note that the UAE put on just short of 300 against the Windies.

If the group stage has been anything to go by with the upsets, there will be more upsets in the Super 6 stage.
Which means that any of the top 6 sides could yet qualify.

True. If we beat Scotland I think the job is almost done. Thing is Afghanistan are furious right now. My prediction is that they will knock over the Dutch and the Irish out of pure rage. They have a point to prove. What we need is the West Indies to play their part and knock over everybody. If that happens and Afghanistan beat the Irish as well it would mean the Ireland would have lost twice.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Wed Mar 07, 2018 6:11 amIf the group stage has been anything to go by with the upsets, there will be more upsets in the Super 6 stage.

This would mean that if we beat the Europeans we are through. Basically yesterday's victory meant we can lose twice and still go through with NRR. This is why I say Cephas still plays. Either Scotland or the Dutch have to be beaten convincingly. I think Ireland are our biggest challenge now.
Problem is none of these guys are consistent and if the West Indies get knocked over the tournament will be turned upside down

You’re right TapsC in a perfect world Afghanistan don’t lose again and West Indies also go through undefeated apart from when they play us of course

I am a bit nervous about the Scotland game, I think Scotland are better than people think.

I’m still no closer to getting a clear picture. If Afghanistan don’t lose again they will get through. Surely we need WI and Afghanistan to beat Ireland so they lose twice, then WI to beat Afghanistan. That leaves us a small bit of latitude to make a mistake. WI have to win all their games.

There are way too many permutations left to accurately predict anything.
Right now, West Indies, Ireland, Scotland, and Zimbabwe all have equal shots at qualifying. Afghanistan are next just due to their status ahead of Netherlands, HK, PNG, UAE, and Nepal. The others don't have much of a chance if any. Even AFG's chances hinge on beating out 2 or 3 sides on NRR.
The only saving grace for AFG at this point is that with HK and Nepal to come, they could really boost their NRR since they basically have a 0 NRR right now.
So the strategy for Scotland and ZIM is that have to absolutely maintain their NRR going forward. Both teams have one "booster" game left: SCO vs Nepal and ZIM vs HK. Afghanistan has 2 boosters left.
WI vs IRE - no telling who wins
IRE vs ZIM - no telling who wins
ZIM vs SCO - NRR will be critical
WI vs ZIM - no telling who wins
AFG vs WI - no telling wins
AFG vs IRE - no telling who wins
AFG vs NED - no telling who wins
This is insane...basically every game is a coin toss! ICC really managed to organize a tournament where any team could win on any day.
Simply incredible!
