Scotland have upped their NRR massively. I don't see us able to do that. The Windies are the kind of side who will either not care one game, or they will obliterate you off the park the next. This seems to be the former, so you can expect that when backed in to a corner, they will produce the latter.
We can't rely on other teams. We just need to focus on ourselves. Realistically, we expect Windies to beat Scotland, but it looks like they will fall to Afghanistan.
Our match against Ireland is all the more crucial then. Windies are expected to romp through and if this is their bad game out of the way, you sure as hell know they will turn it on in the next two.
We go in to the Windies game knowing we are the underdogs and we can probably afford to slip there if anything, so slipping to Ireland is just not an option, not especially if the Windies lose today and Scotland romp home.

i think that logic rings true in a sport like rugby unionor league where people can come out iced up and run a team of the park, but in a game like cricket can lead to rush of blood. need composure and all that.zimbos_05 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 15, 2018 1:05 pmScotland have upped their NRR massively. I don't know why, but I've been a die hard AFG supporter since 2009 but for some reason I don't really care much if they miss out on this WC - which they are 90% likely to do at this stage. Even winning all their games may not be enough.
Btw, who are the posting leaders at ZCF? I'm guessing eugene, sloandog, and jaybro with gold, silver, and bronze so far...
Can't believe I've been posting so much!

Chockin' hell, what's going on over there
I still hope they lose, if not to see the sorry excuses all of their fans will come up with.
There's been a lot of 'promise you I Zim not make world cup kkkkkk lol yes' type posts in the past few days. Afghanistan to come home, Zimbabwe to go through, I'll sit back and watch the Zimbabwe Facebook supporters rip the Afghans a new one

I think we want Afghanistan to win this one though. And maybe against Ireland too.
It'll be tight though. 25 needed, 4 wickets in hand but they are choking big time.

An Afghan victory won't be too bad for Zim but I worry about the Windies team that will turn up against us if they lose.

Afghanistan doing well to win this game. If they push to win all game they are just putting their name in the hat. All teams are evenly matched anything can happen. Just wondering if Afghanistan winning against West Indies is an upset or its something we all thought could happen.

So an Afghan win makes the picture clearly on potential maximum points each team can earn in the Super 6s (theoretical max is 10).
WI can still bag 8 if they win their remaining 2 which means they probably qualify automatically. But all 3 of their S6 games are tough ones.
SCO will move up to 5 points and top the table right now.
ZIM have to do whatever SCO do, just slightly better to edge them on NRR.
IRE are disadvantaged due to the SCO/ZIM tie. They will need to go one better than both to qualify and are up against it.
AFG have to win their remaining 2 games.
