We’ve had people here with serious pedigrees and they’ve proven there’s no magic formula. Our home grown coaches have been successful world wide, yet they’ve been discarded or moved on for historical reasons and because of personality clashes with people who know the square root of fekk all. It’s been because there’s divisions and they’re trying to appoint someone that has respect from however many camps there happen to be at any one time, which is pathetic. They appointed someone like Ntini because they thought he’d be inspirational to our (black) bowlers, ffs we need to move on from that, and I think we probably are. Don’t forget if there’s division in the rank and file there’s no attention being paid to what’s going on behind closed boardroom doors- now where have we seen this divide and rule tactic before?

We also have some inherently lazy individuals who were perhaps hoping Ntini had juju, it must have been a shock to discover that he was an advocate of hard work.
Also CZ’s last minute inclusion and the various ratios that have always been a bone of contention is proof of meddling from people who know diddly.
There will always be dissenters amongst us armchair warriors as to tactical decisions made by the coaches. That’s why we’re here and what makes cricket such a great sport. Bear in mind our current brains trust is Streak, Klusener, Cremer, Taylor and possibly a couple of others, there’s some serious knowledge and experience there. We don’t have the benefit of hindsight as to how a different batting or bowling line up may have fared, nor are we privy to all the other information that we are not aware of that made them arrive at those decisions. That’s another fault, by the way, there’s zero PR from any of them. I think they have to get board clearance to take a dump, such is the paranoia from ZC about any criticism. If anyone tries to extract information from anyone involved you just get a rolling of the eyes and a shrugging of the shoulders because they know there’s repurcussions about leaking information. It’s like the KGB instead of a sports organization with real obligations to its many players and supporters.
There’s no time like now to demand change.
