More from Taibu here. I find it interesting that he is saying sign the document for the players union but dont boycott. If thats true then why on earth would any player refuse to sign that thing? That doesnt make sense at all. How does Mukuhlani convince you to not sign a paper which improves your working conditions? That would be interesting to find out

Our guys on the inside have been quiet these days, particularly Gargamel.
The main problem is that the players don’t trust each other. That analogy of the major asking for volunteers and everyone barring one takes a step back is apt.
I guess what they need is a pre-agreement amongst themselves that they need 99% buy-in or the paper gets torn up. They’ve obviously convinced the key guys not to sign- those being key senior players and guys that can replace players within the team. There’s fear, there’s intimidation, ignorance, but also sheep mentality, cunning, opportunity, stupidity etc. the reasons there isn’t 100% buy in is because the top guys understand how to do this. There’s a cultural aspect to this as well. What may motivate a black guy to do something, or not to, is often different to a white guy.
It’s occurred to me that whoever is made captain you can be almost certain is on the other team.

in as much as people do not want to talk about it, the ugly truth is that there are rifts within the team and now now its starting to show. there has always been that mistrust and suspicion between the black (african) players and the white players and this is going to take a lot of time to deal with. from a layman's point of view, it will take like eternity to fix this. take for example the initiative taken by BT to form a players union which would benefit both the local and contracted players but the issue that may arise is that the guy is already sorted so a few players might buy into his idea. another point worth noting is that it is easy to sway the black players against joining the org because of the current circumstances where most of them earn a living from playing cricket alone so for as long as they get the peanuts they get and as such they are more vulnerable, all good. but oh well, who knows.

That “rift” realistically will take another generation to dismantle, and that’s if the powers that be and the older generation were to stop the deliberate black white stuff right now because they pass it on. It’s from both sides and there’s justifiable reasons for it on both sides. We all know how complicated it is here.
What they’re playing on is how much BT earns and he’s ok Jack and he can afford to take a stance. If those players that buy into that had half a brain cell they’d figure out that fact has been thrown in by the very people paying him that amount to make sure the union doesn’t gain traction. Once again they’re being manipulated and are too stupid and scared to work it out. They have a victim mentality.
What gets me is that somehow they think the player salaries should be more equitable. Firstly someone has let slip how much he earns - gee wonder who did that
It was probably an uncomfortable decision to pay him a decent salary and they wanted to keep it under wraps and now they’re using it as ammunition
If they want to be paid more it’s simple- become as good as Taylor and be an internationally recognized batsman. The simple answer is it’s not possible so keep quiet and practice and be grateful you’re earning a dolllar for something you’re monumentally ordinary at. It’s the harsh truth, which used to be thrown in their faces and now isn’t and they can’t join the dots.

I’d like to see a log of how many balls our batsmen face on a daily basis. If you paid them 10c a delivery by the end of the week they wouldn’t be able to buy themselves a hamburger.

Their two guys on the ground that instigate all of this are Utseya and Makoni. Eeish they’re poisonous backward thinking guys that need to go or we won’t survive.

Thats the funny. BT doesnt pay himself. They also need to ask themselves how much the board members are being paid too.

The divide is real. What I noticed is if you exclude Tristan and Liam and Dean all the other journalists are on the other side. I guess maybe its a race thing. I listened to one popular sports show on radio last week and they had a real go at BT saying he earns all that money and that it wasn't fair for Taibu to say that to the kids because they come from poor backgrounds and that 500 or 1000 they earn makes a big difference and they can't afford to be dropped..

This is obviously the behind the scenes agenda the board is pushing. "BT and co earn so much.. they dont care about you if they did they would sacrifice parts of their salary" its a silly argument but add the lack of trust betweem them and Mukuhlani personally calling you into his office to promise you a place in the team, better pay and some "lunch money" to that. A lot of these guys are really vulnerable and just want make it that they will actually forget that Mukuhlani pays BT that money.

They always always make it about black and white, it’s how they roll and how this maintains traction. If that was Masakadza in Taylor’s shoes they would be saying “this is what you should be aspiring to, this could be you, a black guy making it!” He’d be on a pedestal and everyone would be agreeing. Of course it’s played into their hands and has enabled them to keep the division amongst the players and have their little snitch network. If it wasn’t for the fact that he’s white they would find another way of creating the division, believe that, whether it was tribal or they whispered that this faction was keeping that faction from selection, they’d find another way.

The sad part is they don’t really care how much the board is being paid. The cultural thing is that they’re the chefs and so long as things are vaguely working then let them carry on and if they happen to be friends or related or from the same area then they take comfort that that guy has their back. It’s how Zimbabwe society works.
