I was wondering who is the best choice next to take over captaincy across formats now that Hamilton is moving on (I don't think we need different captains for different formats as we play so less, and we'll benefit from a single captain).
Current VC Moor is not a certainty across formats, so does not look like a good choice, although he seems to pick his game up with more responsibility. Still a choice.
Taylor had an equally miserable second leg of the European tour compared to Hamilton, and his keeping looked ordinary. Also dumping captaincy on him does not look like a sensible decision.
Raza's form is very up and down. He might be a bit too mercurial and emotional for the top job.
Craig Ervine does not look like a leadership material.
Sean Williams, the skipper of the 2006 U19 world cup, hasn't had the senior team leadership come his way for long, mostly for being at odds regularly with the board. This could still be a long shot. But his form for the last year and a half makes him possibly the first name on the team sheet across formats. He seems to have reignited the passion for Zim and it shows when he is out there on the field. He is now also taking more responsibility as a batsman and not throwing his wicket away after a classy 30 or a 50. For me, he looks like the obvious choice and an honour that he deserves.
What do you guys think?

I agree.
Williams would be favourite although I would personally go Raza but ZC won’t go for his outspokenness.

I ould like Sean to b Skip.
But if you are thinking that Raza is too emotional to be captain, then you dont know Sean.
Raza or Sean for me.

Well the white guys and the brown guy voted in no uncertain terms against ZC so it’s unlikely. People will forget their principles when offered a captaincy though.
It’s also the only guarantee of being selected

Re: Opinion: Sean Williams as next captain?
Moor would be the ideal guy because of his age, experience and work ethic, only problem is he’s not really good enough in Limited overs cricket to be assured of a spot.
I’d probably give it to BT for now, but they really need an empathise on bringing through some younger guys now who could possibly become leaders/captains.
I’ve always liked the idea of Raza being captain, but he seems ready to throw his lot in at any stage now

Re: Opinion: Sean Williams as next captain?
Sean Williams - Would be an interesting choice to captain the side but i think he would not set the tone on certain aspects as mentioned above , Fitness, Behaviour and i just think he talent dosnt deserve the annoying burden of captainacy
Taylor- Seen it done it dont think he should be burdened by it
Moor- Has the leadership qualities but needs to perform more consistently
RAZA- Has the brains and the PR to do a great job, Problem is he is very vocal and wont sit well with some ZC leadership
Tino Mawoyo- Best of the lot has Captained Mountaineers successfully, well liked and respected, top cricket brain . Fitness and focus on cricket may have bee lost a future Coach of Zim
Tari Musakanda- Had been or was thought of being groomed to Captain the side but never really settled into the setup before being involved in Provincial politics ths getting him kicked ut

This is the problem. If you had been following Zimbabwe Cricket for some time you would know that Regis Chakabva has always been one of the long time successors to Elton/Prosper/Hami/Taylor.
Tests & ODIs - Regis Chakabva
T20Is - Tarisai Musakanda
If Zimbabwe are considering going back to one of the old guys, you can be pretty certain that old guy will be Elton Chigimbura.
Raza and Taylor proved beyond reasonable doubt that they do not care about Zimbabwe Cricket or cricket in Zimbabwe. Williams' disciplinary record is indefensible. Bad precedent. Not even Alistair Campbell wanted to work with Taibu.
The only compromises I can see to window-dress are convincing Craig Ervine to take the job. But if they are really being evil they will definitely make Moor captain across formats so we can all have a laugh.
Anyway, my tips are Regis and Tari. With Elton as a long shot.
But personally, I want Moor to be captain across formats.

Jarvis or Musakanda.
Re: Opinion: Sean Williams as next captain?
Musakanda barely has claims to a spot in the side let alone being captain, his only claim is that ‘he looks a good player’
I never really get the idea of picking some guy out of left field to be captain, the captain should be a certain starter in every side, Tari isn’t.
Neither is PJ or Regis

Not really an obvious choice on who to pick, I can't believe people are throwing about specialist fielder Elton Chigumbura's name. Insanity. Team mascot for Elton perhaps?
