Kings v Takashinga

Getting quite tired of seeing the same batting performance from the guys.Zhuwao and Prince have been disappointing to say the least, and there’s been some poor captaincy from the latter.

Aarsh Jha is a really nice kid. Lovely bloke, really, but just doesn’t have it unfortunately.

Evans bowled alright, with good pace, and looked hard to get away as usual. His batting has been disappointing though as he’s touted himself as a genuine all rounder.

Mambo continued to disappoint me. He has a swagger on the field and is again, touted as a genuine all rounder, but his batting has been awful this tournament and has averaged under 15 in the Vigne Cup for years if the stats are correct. His bowling is decent, and nippy, but is a bit erratic.

Diplock looked different, and off. I did find out that he has been playing this tournament through a recent broken ankle though, so that explains a few things. Can’t comment on his batting this tournament, as he’s come in at the end every game and seems to be not out shortly after walking in each time.

Taun Harrison looks a good offie. Has a nice high action and reminds me a bit of Lyon, action wise. Seems a nice kid with a bit of energy. Flights the ball well and gets a lot of dip in the air. Long way to go to be international quality though.

As always, any questions, I’d be glad to answer as I talk to the team a bit, what with being involved in the PR campaign.

I’ll stick to my stereotype here....

How fast do you reckon Evans and the other lads are bowling

Cricket can be a funny game, highly touted bowlers like Evans can barely buy a wicket, then these random guys like Bechani and Mutsamba and Muchawaya are taking wickets 6,7 & 5 a piece !!!!
Certain players have a strange sense of superiority without having the performances to back it up. If they were that much better than the rest they would be at the top of the charts.

What have the pitches been like? Excuse for the lack of runs?

Pitches at OH have been pretty spin-friendly and slow so there’s reason the pacers haven’t been as effective as the slow boys.

I’d say Evans is bowling around the early to mid 130s with his whippy action.

Mambo around 130 at times when he is on song and looking in rhythm.

Diplock 120s but have seen him bowl quicker than this, as said the injury makes sense now.

Fringe National team players clearly haven't learnt their lesson, PJ Moor in particular. Why hasn't he been playing NPL2020??

Also the likes of Regis, Jongwe & Maruma haven't resurfaced since they were released from national team camp.

Does Moor even like playing cricket?

i would like to think that PJ, Reggie and Timycen were on standby in a so called bubble in harare and should there be an injury one of them would fly over. but i stand to be corrected

That makes sense mate, I hope you’re right. Although how many players do they need? They have 20 over there and it’s only 6 games

Nick Welch is on 50* for The Kings, class act as expected whilst no other batsman can get past 30.

Welch apparently wants to play some FC cricket in Zimbabwe this year, I wonder if he will get a gig? The franchise selectors are a very strange bunch, even more so than the national selectors in my book.

Season is going to start on the 17th and the Southern Rocks are going to make a return as the 5th franchise. Poor decision in my view, would be much better to have another Harare franchise, the Rocks will not be able to attract enough players of quality to pose a challenge. Campbell's academy given the elbow which means that Brent is not coaching in FC cricket which is a shocker.

It would be a real shame if the better players from the Rangers such as Mudzinganyama, Imbayago, Campbell and Macheka did not get game time, as well as Evans.
