One thing I will say is that ZC squandered a golden opportunity to have Nick in Zimbabwe colours.
As a teen that's all he wanted, and he wasn't picked after his 16 year old debut. That sent him in a different direction.
There has been some ridiculous mismanagement of talent by ZC over recent times.
For all the BS and brouhaha, all Zimbabwe had to do to stay competitive was to look after 5 kids including Nick over the last ten years and the national team would be healthy.
Imagine a batting order of;
Byrom
Balance
Welch
Taylor
Ervine
Muyeye
Williams
Raza/Wes
+ 3 seamers ...Blessing/Evans/Jarvis/Chatara/Morton rotation

I haven't even factored in cremer or the Curran's

How much money does a county rookie earn? Then somebody like Byrom?

County rookie like Welch who is playing 1st team games would be between £28,000-£35,000

I believe it's about 30k pounds a year
Not much at all. The first two years is to build your name for the next contract.

A star player at County earns between 120-200, based n who you are obviously.

Although I wonder if that means that a Graeme onions is worth more than a Joe Root. Since the latter will miss most of the season with England duties, and someone like onions is consistently 'best of the rest'

Sounds like there are a couple of overseas players looking to play in the Logan Cup this year, fingers crossed as it will raise the standards. Can't get over the face that they are bringing the Rocks back, a second Harare franchise makes much more sense. Nearly all players live in Harare.

Funny thing is ZC can match those wages for good players. Still if I was Welch I would get the 2 years county experience and see from there. Wait till BT and co call it a day and then demand their current salaries

I can't see it happening, it is clear that the Welch family have been bitten by ZC before (Under 19 World Cup) and are unlikely to ever trust ZC again, don't blame them.

Murray is a non-starter at the moment, does not want to play.
