The Murray situation Is just strange. Maybe something happened behind the scenes. In his case I think he is making a mistake but hey... you can’t force somebody to play for their country.
Cricket is just one of those sports where the national pride levels are just low. The most ironic part is that in Zimbabwe it’s the highest paying sport. The job security is unbelievable if you have a small glimpse of talent too. If you ever hear the horror tales of what happens in Rugby , football or basketball you will know these guys have it easy.

Re: National Premier League 2020 ( NPL )
You just need to remember that this board does not forget if you sting them. So whatever decision you make you need to make sure your plan B is much better
Re: National Premier League 2020 ( NPL )
That is why ZC prefer players from state schools who have no plan B. Even black private school kids are hated by ZC as they have options so can tell ZC where to go.
Dion Myers is a great example, his family has a lot of money, if ZC try to muck him around he will be off. Players from poverty and low income families don't have those options. That is why the Churchill 5 (Hamilton, Matsikenteri, Utseya, Sibanda and Taibu) were ZCs dream, until Taibu grew a backbone.

I’m pretty sure Murray has a bit of uni left as he is 22. This is probably his last year but the uni year would still be going for a couple months.TapsC2 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 28, 2020 3:23 pmThe Murray situation Is just strange. Another interesting thing, the ECB ruled that Dane Vilas and Cameron Delport don’t qualify as uk players post brexit despite having ancestry visas (The right to live and work in the Uk) . This could be challenged in the courts in the future though I guess. https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id ... conclusion

How much do zimbabwe cricket contracted players earn and how many contracted players? I imagine zimbabwe domestic players earn peanuts.

Great to see Kevin Kasuza hit a 96 ball 121. I have always had a bit of a soft spot for him and would love to see him crack the shorter formats too. Being a test specialist for Zim is almost like not having a career. And he was known as a bit of a dasher when he came along through U19s.
Wonder what multiple regimes have seen in Chari that Kevin doesn't possess - that the former keeps getting picked. Having watched both at the Test level, I can't imagine Chari to be ahead of Kevin in any department. But may be they give a different impression domestically.

We said that when Kasuza debuted against Sri Lanka that is was a crime that Chari had been given so many chances before Kasuza was even tried, the fact Chari always seems to pull off a ton at crucial times (selection wise) seems like it has been the difference.CrimsonAvenger wrote: ↑Wed Oct 28, 2020 4:24 pmGreat to see Kevin Kasuza hit a 96 ball 121. Kasuza and Mudzinganyama both doing very well yesterday, along with Welch.

Do you sense the Murray situation is permanent?
Re: Welch, also think you know better but with regards to what the Dogg mentioned about who he was talking to...I understand but the great John Ward is hardly a ZC mouthpiece is he?
I have said it before in here. The plan should be to use some of their cash to pay for talented cricketers' uni fees either in the UK or SA. Then the cricketer is obligated to play three years at ZC by way of reimbursement or they have to pay ZC back.

It is my opinion that John's comment is true, but even moreso my opinion that Nick is most likely just saying the right things that people in Zim wabt to hear.
Just to complicate it a little more i dont think nick is lying himself. He DEFINITELY grew up with dreams of playing for Zim, but make no mistake England comes first for now.
Someone touched on it earlier but the Welch's never forgot Nick being snubbed for the under 19s. Especially since he had cracked the first class system and was leading or nearly leading every run tally in the schoolboys. There wasnt a justification for it.
It changed everything.
Just to make it all worse, the same thing happened to the younger Welch this year. The last name taken off the list when the squad was named. You may recall the way they picked the squad was by drip elimination and young welch was last.
now this is Zimdoggy thinking out loud here,
on one hand, fair enough, he didnt impress in the last 2 trial games and hes only 16.
BUT, On the other hand, everyone in the Zim cricket community seem to think that the Ebrahim kid was only in the squad because rich daddy paid the ticket.
everyone says it and the fact he didnt bowl and was batting 10 and didnt do a thing suggests it.
My point is, the fact that another Welch was snubbed, last cab of the rank, in favour of a kid that obviously didnt deserve to be there would 100% no way be lost on the Welch family.
So yes, take Nick playing for Zim with a grain of salt.
