Zim old ballies v Namibia

Post by WayneKerr »

I see the Zim over 50's are playing Namibia today.
Quite a few ex national players in the line up, Craig Evans Mark Burmeister, John Rennie - Charlie Lock and Darryl Goodwin.
Also featuring former Davis Cup Tennis player Malcom Birch.

Go you old bullets!

Great to see of these names from decades past on scorecards again. Craig Evans still good for clearing the boundary I see.
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

No, Nkala no.
He just turned 40.
Unless he’s done some Rashid Khan move now ones aware of.
Mbangwa is also only 44.

Another genius comment by Mueddie.

Racial qouta system is only satisfying politics not producing results either for Zimbabwe or Proteas.
Proteas in 90s were a "bullet" team and Zimbabwe were equivalent to New Zealand where they could run down any opposition in their day, played competative cricket.

Even Zimbabwe had services of quality black players, i remember a young player, may be in 20s, known as Trevor Modondo what a quality he was, classical, thrased Harbhajan, Kumble in india which remain a dream for many world class batsman of strong teams. Nkala, used to do what modern Windies player like Carlos Braithwaite or a Darren Sammy does in lower order, some useful economical bowling followed by excellent hitting. Pomie & Hondo were still best troubled batsman with their slowers and cutters.

In india when we talk about Zimbabwe cricket, we still recalls Olonga V/s Sachin rivalary. Very few have given problem to Sachin, and Olonga was one of them fast and furious, aggressive bowler.
Andy Flower's reverse sweep and Dougie Marillier's unexpected performances became a fear factor, but sadly this didnt last long. Zimbabwe team in that era was rated competative and were famous in subcobtinent they use to be 3rd team in Indian Subcontinent for any Tri Nation Series organized at that era. Things happend later was not good for Zimbabwe its like an Hydrogen bomb or nuclear attack that shattered cricket in Zimbabwe
