He also gave the bookie the numbers of players jaybro, whether he was tricked into that I don't know.
Once he was questioned by ACU he then tried to conceal information according to ICC.
ZC Corruption Scandal - Heath Streak
Re: ZC Corruption Scandal - Heath Streak
Yeah I’m across that he gave the bookie access to the players and that he lied. But for me there is a big difference between giving a bookie access to players or to give information about a game compared to fixing a game.
Yes it’s wrong and deserves to be suspended etc but if he hasn’t fixed a match or spot fixed a match, that’s a big difference

Maybe/maybe not. If you give a bookie players numbers intentionally then you are indifferent to them match fixing. It's like providing a pedophile a small child.jaybro wrote: ↑Thu Apr 15, 2021 3:37 amYeah I’m across that he gave the bookie access to the players and that he lied. Re: ZC Corruption Scandal - Heath Streak
I am not trying to defend streak but it starts with streak was very clear that he wanted cricket in Zimbabwe to grow and Agarwal was to start a new league in Zimbabwe for which he needed money ..now I don't understand why streak had to go at this level to help him with money ..but I think streak started with noble intention of helping Zimbabwe but down the line got corrupt with all the money being thrown at him ..but the biggest point is he never fixed any of the games ..thank god not the UAE game atleast ...so I think 8 years ban is a bit too harsh ..but then streak is a former legend so icc expects better from him hence the harsher ban

Re: ZC Corruption Scandal - Heath Streak
I will defend Streak if he had done all this for noble cause and for development of cricket in Zimbabwe, i remember once he said in media about construction of a cricket stadium in Zimbabwe with world class facilities and holding Day Night games
Such kind of projects requires large amount of money. If the money is spent there his ban should be lifted. There is no curse in spending cheated, looted or corrupted money for people's interest and development.

I will attempt to answer this because I recognise this as something I would do.zimbos_05 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 15, 2021 3:15 amSo I've had time to think about it. It hurts because it's Heath. He was the embodiment of Zim cricket and for many of us, the first player who got us in to the game, and the team.
I wonder what went on in his mind when he thought about it. Was 2 Bitcoin and an Iphone really worth it?
What I hate about this situation is the likes of Melhuli and Zolsky jumping up and down and calling for Streak to be imprisoned, and also pulling out the race card. For one, Melhuli having a go at Adam Theofilatos for no absolute reason. It's clear there are those in ZC who are quite happy to destroy the game and other Zimbabweans for their own benefit. TM too has spoken about this in such a derogatory manner. Once again, they are not acting in the best interests of Zim cricket or the fans, but their own personal interests.
One thing that does not make sense to me is the Cremer situation. We all know Cremer approached Streak and said he was approached by a bookie. Streak told him to report it straight away. Why would Streak implicate himself? That does not make much sense to me. Surely Streak would not be so silly as to do that especially if he was responsible for the meeting.
I also don't understand how the selling of information amounts to match fixing? Perhaps it allowed bookies to make bets on who was playing or who would be, then approach those players directly, but I don't see the link to match fixing as the ICC have said no match outcomes were affected.
What Streak has done is wrong. No doubting that. He should not have done it. There are just some things that don't entirely add up.
I cousi be wrong, but I think this is what happened.
Streak was offered the money to give the numbers.
He probably thought ‘it’s only their phone number, and
the boys are good kids and won’t get involved in it and will tell them to f off, so it’s easy money’.
So Streak gets the cash and genuinely could have wanted to protect cremer at the same time.

Re: ZC Corruption Scandal - Heath Streak
Heath was well aware of all the protocols and the ICC anti corruption code.
Especially after the spot fixing at Lords and the way careers of those involved were impacted, people should be running away from any sort of wrong doing. Not sure what Streak was thinking here.

Re: ZC Corruption Scandal - Heath Streak
Looks like Streak is getting some sympathy across mainstream zim.
Seems to have given him a sense of hood, slot of comments like ‘he is truly one of us now’ etc. funny.
Maybe this has now humanised him and won some fans.
Crime with a good side is popular
