I will attempt to answer this because I recognise this as something I would do.
I cousi be wrong, but I think this is what happened.
Streak was offered the money to give the numbers.
He probably thought ‘it’s only their phone number, and
the boys are good kids and won’t get involved in it and will tell them to f off, so it’s easy money’.
So Streak gets the cash and genuinely could have wanted to protect cremer at the same time.
There's still some extra variables.
Why tell Cremer to report it, thus report him too? Why take the risk of giving the numbers hoping the players don't take it?
I'm not trying to defend Streak here as completely innocent, just sort of questioning a couple of things that don't exactly add up.
The strategy would be that he knows Cremer won’t want a bar of it, If he knew Cremer.
It’s a double agent thing.
Collect the money, knowing that the boys will hang up and there’s no harm done, and Streak profits.
It’s kind of a perfect crime.
Yes there is a small risk that the players succumb to the bookies. And that Streak would somehow be found out. But that’s the risk taken for two bitcoins and a phone.
What Streak would do if he was zimdoggy, is plant the seed int players minds beforehand that there are ICC agents posing as bookies, to ensure that players don’t succumb.
Go overboard in the training because you know they will be tested.
That is a great plan but the weakness to the plan is the icc finding out from other means which has appeared to be the case.
You just have to have a head for crime I think.
