But given that Ervine, Williams, Burl and Raza are injured, wouldn't Madhevere be an automatic choice in the playing XI?

Bangladesh's system is perhaps better than Zimbabwe's, but its still far from world class (which is probably just England, Australia, India, and New Zealand).zimbos_05 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 3:55 am
Yes, but even Bangladesh has a better grassroots structure and system to bring through young players. They also had proper coaches to develop and coach them through the whole process.
I know he has skill and talent, but the reasons you are giving for playing him in this format are weak.

Almost anyone in any dealings with ZC looks suspicious...

What's worrying for me with BT being in that photo-op, that basically says there is no possibility of Williams coming back for the second one too. If was only missing the first test, he would still be in the photo session?
And Williams has been significantly more consistent than even Taylor in the last couple of years. This is a massive blow.

Taylor's average has never crossed 40 as far as I know. Williams is almost 42 after a good number of matches. His form the past 3-4 years has been phenomenal.CrimsonAvenger wrote: ↑Thu Apr 29, 2021 5:04 amWhat's worrying for me with BT being in that photo-op, that basically says there is no possibility of Williams coming back for the second one too. Fair enough.
I will say I feel that Madhevere plays too much in the air a la Musakanda. May be less of an issue in Tests with fielders clustered in specific regions (eg slip cordon, or bat-pad catchers).
