Cricinfo reported the same thing in their preview. Didnt mention Chivanga, but their previews are often off by a player or so.

Saw Tanaka Chivanga talking with coach Rajput. Is he making debut in 2nd test ? Guy is tall and muscular build, from his physique it looks he can bowl with some raw pace..
I’m really sick of pointing out how dumb this logic is

I guess all the NBA players are all naturally 145km hr fast bowlers.

And blessing is the second fastest bowler in the world after the Pakistani dude

Chivanga is playing. So who misses out? DT or Ngarava? The wise choice would be DT, but I fear the selectors might drop Ngarava. Would be very harsh - Richard bowled okay in the first test and is a threat. A triumvirate of Blessing, Ngarava & Chivanga would be very exciting and I hope they are brave enough to go with this.

There's also the question of who opens. With Masvaure possibly missing out, there may be a spot available at the top. The obvious options are Musakanda or Shumba. They will probably not want to expose Shumba at the top yet. Musakanda opened in Prince's absence in the second innings of the first test so is the most likely to move up the order again. Personally I think one idea could be to give Regis a go up there, just temporarily. People criticise him but it's difficult batting at number 8 with the tail when you are 110-6 or something. He might do okay at the top of the order on a short-term basis until we find a better opener I guess.

Ultimately this is going to be very tough again. Hopefully the boys can learn some lessons and we can go full strength and beat Bangladesh next time out.

Most likely XI;

1 Kevin Kasuza
2 Tari Musakanda
3 Milton Shumba
4 Brendan Taylor
5 Sean Williams (C)
6 Roy Kaia
7 Reggie Chakabva (Wk)
8 Tendai Chisoro
9 Tanaka Chivanga
10 Blessing Muzarabani
11 Richard Ngarava
Fuck that’s ugly lol

Edit:
No Williams either, confirmed.

Now it’s officially uglier than the girl I facialised in the alley behind the alley at the sackville hotel 7 years ago after smashing 500ml of straight Jim beam after a dogs/tigers game.

Chivanga isn't 90mph material. Granted he has a yard but word on the ground is he's not quicker than Muzarabani and Ngarava

I wonder if he has the stamina for Test cricket; he looks like a heavy unit.

There is no bowlers anywhere in the world that is going to come into the team bowling in the 140s (that
Doesn’t spray it at least).
For the mere fact that there is only about 50 people in the world, if that, that is capable of beating the 145 barrier on a regular basis

So if that person exists, he is already;
- famous/prodigy/ hyped
Or,
Making a decent living already.

Just because most top test teams have 1/2 consistently fronting up in their test team at those paces doesn’t mean it’s widespread. You’re basically seeing the cream of the crop from every country.

Even in pace heavy Australia, I strongly doubt there will be more than 10 players who could do that. 4/5 of them are already in national rotation.

In fact some speed but here like Sloan may have, or be interested in tallying those players. Woulda be interesting. You do not need to skim first class sides around the world of the top 8 and the under 19s cup.

When he first came back to Zim, Eagles were bigging him up and saying he was regularly bowling over 145km (!!!) in SA but struggled with accuracy and that was where they wanted him to improve. He looked pretty accurate in the Zim domestic streams I saw him in, so presumably he has dropped his pace in order to improve his line.

Definitely got the pace in him but hopefully he has found a good balance between pace and accuracy. I'm keen to see how he goes, but I do wonder if he is any better than Ngarava. If they drop Ngarava it is very harshI think.

There's gotta be way more than 50 bowlers in the world capable of bowling around 140 for at least a spell.

Indian national team has at least 8-9 (Bumrah, Shami, Umesh, Saini, etc). Pakistan has a 3-4 in their national team, and a dozen more in their domestic circuits including some 150 kph bowlers. Even Bangladesh has 2-3 guys now.

Add in Australia and New Zealand. There are probably at least 100 bowlers in the world who can bowl 140 consistently.

140 bowlers will put you in the top quarter of quick bowlers.
