Bless thier hearts, Maruma and Kaia are goid domestic playerz who have no place in international cricket. And thats okay!! Logan cup here, a stint in England low tier cricket clibs there...its an honrst career. We neef to pick horses for courses. Theses guys are just not cut out for this level

Would agree it is not their fault they have been promoted above their station.

Kaitano at the other end is rock solid, he has grabbed the opportunity with both hands. I think Zimbabwe have found someone in the mould of Kraigg Braithwaite and Cheteshwar Pujara in Kaitano. He is 28 and he can play for another 7 to 8 years if he can hold onto that top order slot with such temperament and application. A very dogged and yet quality knock he is playing right now.

We need 1 more 80+ partnership from the outright batsmen to stay in the game

Kaitano has now equaled the highest non-hundred score on debut for Zim, that of Grant Flower.

Has anyone had a longer and less productive international career that Maruma? Debuted in 2007, still playing in 2021 - no fifties at an average of 12, only a handful of wickets. It defies logic that generation after generation of selection panels keep picking this guy. Instead of proven failures let's give other batsmen a go, like Kaitano who has pulled this performance out of nowhere. And Myers and Shumba looked good. Madhevere is obviously going to be an important part of Zim's batting lineup going forward, I get that those ducks probably shook his confidence but there's no way he should be on the sidelines while Kaia and Maruma get picked.

Need another hundred run partnership from somewhere, hopefully these two and Tiripano can keep on stonewalling - taking time out of the game whilst scoring some runs as well (we can't win but we need to bat time to make sure BD can't either). Chakabva has been a Mr Reliable for Zim in Tests for a long time (only once in his last 13 innings has he failed to get to double digits). He's a much underrated Test batsman and I'm interested what everyone here thinks - in a few years time when all of the 2000s generation of Zim batsmen have retired, where will Chakabva rate amongst Zim's all time players? He's got to be up there.

if we dont get runs then 2 days of stonewalling wont mean anything

but fuck me this is boring to watch, think im starting to unferstand why people feel test cricket is for yesteryear.

He has now crossed him for both runs scored and balls faced.
