everyone should be persisting with them lol. Not bad performances from either relative to the normal onestgk wrote: ↑Sat Jul 10, 2021 3:17 pmKaitano slander is unwarranted, at least for now. It's his debut test, he batted 300 deliveries in the first innings and 100 more now, second innings with a SR of 7 is painful reading, yes, but it's a hell of a lot better than Maruma or Kaia putting up a 7(24) lbw Taskin or something. First innings was a very good effort from him imo, and second one, well we're never gonna chase 450 or whatever the fuck the target is, so he's eaten up a 100 balls, that's honestly not that scandalous. I'd persist with him and Shumba for the next Test we play.

Kaitano has done his bit
Now only if we had Williams ervine raza instead of Kaia Maruma the first innings would be markedly different and the whole match a different complexion

Lol BT really doesn’t give a fuck anymore does he I don’t know whether it’s funny or sad. Either way it’s entertaining. I think he’s got retirement on his mind. I don’t blame him.

Taylor scored something like 4 runs and chewed up 43 balls or something against Pakistan in the first test I think.
He probably knows its better for him to play his shots ultimately.
Was a joy to watch today. A lovely counterattack. Mostly proper cricket shots and deserved a century

Haha, not true. I gave him credit in the 1st innings.CrimsonAvenger wrote: ↑Sat Jul 10, 2021 2:32 pm
Well, by now it is pretty clear it is difficult to please you . But the 69 overs he has played out all on his own is possibly the only reason this match is going into 5th day.
It's the thinking here for me. It's very mild and low level.
No one expects us to win. I agree. I accept that. But don't go out there conceding that to the opposition. When you go out to save the game, you want the opposition to be uncomfortable and do things that make saving the game easier for you. When you play at such a slow rate, you don't do that. You allow the bowling team to keep the field up and put pressure on the bat. If you knock the ball around you start to create doubt. They start to think about how to protect that single or what they can do to limit you. If you are 200/3 at the end of the day as opposed to 147, they start to think, "we have a lead to defend" as opposed to, "we have time to take wickets". By just blocking everything, the opposition knows that you are out there to invite pressure. They'll add more players around the bat. If you counter attack that and you do it well, a la BT, you may add a quick 50-60 runs and suddenly they start thinking, "oh shit", I've got to spread out the field. Once they do that, blocking becomes easier because the field is spread out.
You have to play the game, not just go in with a one track mind and never adjust.

Kyle Mayers and Nkrumah Bonner have scarred me for life. I can't help but fear that this match will end in a draw with Zimbabwe 300-8 at stumps.

Kaitano deserves further opportunities but a strike rate of 7 on a flat pitch against a docile bowling attack doesn't bode well. If you want to save a test you have to put pressure on the bowlers and rotate the strike.
Hopefully The Don can lead us to a glorious draw tomorrow!

I think Kaitano should still get some more chances because he's better than Prince but probably behind Kasuza and Chari.
As for the game...BD will need to get 2 wickets before lunch. I think Regis is the key because players like Madhevere, Shumba, Myers, and even Taylor will always give you chances every 5 overs with their aerial shots, reverse sweeps, and hoicks.
Myers is the big wicket for right now.

Myers is looking solid right now. Taking very safe easy runs without taking unnecessary risks.
