Jeez! Why something always get fucked up prior to an important series? In UAE last time, Taylor and Craig were absent due to injuries and now Craig and Williams are absent due to Covid19 protocols. Taylor really needs to fire all Cylinders given his current form in at least two games to make something happen for Zimbabwe. Hopefully Wes, Myers and Marumani can play a blinder in one of the matches.

Raza could be promoted to the top if he is not going to bowl, he did open in the past and Marumani needs an experienced partner at the top. They can not afford to send in two rookies to open.

With Ervine, Williams unavailable, it puts a great hole in Zim middle order. For BD, Mushfiq is not playing, Mustafiz will also miss 1st ODI (maybe full ODI series too) due to ankle injury, Tamim is also not 100% fit.

With the line-up I am going to list below, Zimbabwe do really have a chance to win the series 2-1 if not whitewash. This is the winning combination Zimbabwe need going forward.

Brendan Taylor
Tadiwanashi Marumani
Craig Ervine
Sean Williams
Wesley Madhevere
Dion Myers
Sikandar Raza
Ryan Burl
Blessing Muzarabani
Tendai Chatara
Richard Ngarava ( or possibly Jongwe )
Look in theory i like it,
But presumably you want BT to keep?

he isnt going to open, keep, whilst being 35 and overweight.

He will get exhausted.
Without these two key players I would promote Raza up to the top to partner Marumani since he is not going to bowl in all probability. He did open in the past.

My revised line-up

Raza
Marumani
Madhevere
Taylor
Myers
Burl
Chakabva
Jongwe
Wellington
Muzarabani
Chatara

It was somewhere around the start of the recently concluded series in UAE against the Afghans that I left few comments on Chibhabha's Twitter, in gest, asking and pleading with him to fuck off from that team for good and unexpectedly he replied to my comments saying, " who will put food on the table for my kids bredda ", at that time I never took into consideration how Zimbabwe as a country is struggling economically and the living standard of the general population in the country. In retrospect, I feel for the guy coz like many others he also has kids and family to feed and there are not many good opportunities to earn money in the country so naturally and instinctively he will fight tooth and nail for a means to earn for his family. Nepotism or favoritism run deep in most of the societies, qualifications or merits do not matter as long as you have good connection at the top. Clearly in Chibhabha's case, it may not be the case that he wants to play to leave some kind of mark or legacy and go out there on the park to prove some people wrong for that matter. He clearly is hanging around to try to earn some pennies for his kids and family and as a human being I can respect that. The Zimbabwe cricket fan in me says " good riddance!" But being a fellow human being i feel for the guy, too bad he was not gifted with talent to play at the highest level and I hope and pray that he could find other ways to earn for his family since personally I hold nothing against the man.

So glad chari and chibhaba aren't in squad.

I would say out of the youth brigade myers madhevere and marumani must play.

Not quite sold on shumba in ODI yet. Though he hit a patient 50 to eventually beat South Africa A team recently he looks more longer format
