Pakistan tour of Bangladesh| World Test Championship 2021-23 |[ 3T20Is & 3 test ]

Post by Rajkumar Sharma »

Pakistan touring Bangladesh after 6 years for 3 T20Is and 3 Test as part of ICC World Test Championship 2021–2023 circle. Pakistan are in red hot form after good show in T20 WC 2021 with Bangladesh facing worst time at present, after 5 consecutive defeats in Super 12 followed by defeat against Scotland in recently held T20 World Cup 2021 at UAE.

More negetive for Bangladesh as they will be without the services of their two biggest stars Shakib al Hasan & Tamim Iqbal due to injury and both will not be the part of the whole series. Positive for Bangladesh they have been phenomenal at home beating Australia and New Zealand in T20 and winning consecutive series for the first time. Bangladesh are expected to bring some young stars both in their T20 squad after debacle in the T20 World Cup and in Test squad as replacement of Tamim & Shakib.

Pakistan T20I Squad :

Babar Azam (c), Shadab Khan, Asif Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Haider Ali, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Imad Wasim, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Wasim, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shaheen Afridi, Shahnawaz Dahani, Shoaib Malik, Usman Qadir.

Pakistan Test Squad :

Babar Azam (c), Mohammad Rizwan, Abdullah Shafique, Abid Ali, Azhar Ali, Bilal Asif, Faheem Ashraf, Fawad Alam, Hasan Ali, Imam-ul-Haq, Kamran Ghulam, Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Nawaz, Naseem Shah, Nauman Ali, Sajid Khan, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Saud Shakeel, Shaheen Afridi, Zahid Mahmood

Bangladesh T20I Squad :

Mahmudullah (captain), Naim Sheikh, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Afif Hossain, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Aminul Islam Biplob, Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Shamim Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Saif Hassan, Yasir Ali Chowdhury, Shohidul Islam, Akbar Ali

Revamped Bangladesh side for the T20s...but I think Pakistan are going to cruise to a 3-0 win. We might win a game by accident (its Pakistan afterall), but we are going to get bossed big time.

I'll post more thoughts in a separate thread as I have a few things to get off my chest.

BCB is doing too much late in not bringing performing batters of that Under 19 world cup trump. Emon, Hridoy, Joy, Rakibul, Tanzim should have been given chance here like they brought Shakib, Tamim, Musfiqur from that under 19 world cup that resulted best for Bangladesh.

Too be honest Bangladesh selector in last 5-6 years havent shown courage in bringing stars of under 19 WC enough, there have been those old stereotype selection. Havent developed players who could match Tamim, Shakib, Musfiqur, Mahmudullah, Mashrafi. Any of these gets omitted team looks fragile.

They have but they have invested in the wrong players for too long. Nothing wrong with trying out a Soumya or Liton or Sabbir...but you can't let them play 100+ internationals when they average under 30.

I thought Sabbir wasnt that bad in t20? Is he really that frustrating in that format?

Would have gone with this playing XI win or loss dont matter. Bringing some performing youths in T20 could make Bangladesh move forward

Mohammad Naim Sheikh
Parvez Hossain Emon
Mahmudul Hasan Joy
Mahmudullah Riad
Akbar Ali
Afif Hossain
Mahedi Hasan
Aminul Islam Biplob
Mustafizur Rahman
Taskin Ahmed
Shoriful Islam

BD really shouldve learnt from SL`s situation. Got the talent and all but this transition unless BD find some insanely talented batsme who mature very quickly, its going to be rough for the next 5 years

Yes. BD should learn from SL. SL didnt thought of replacements of Sanghakara, Dilshan, Jayawerdana, Muruli as a result they had to face lots of trouble after their retirements and it seems now after 6 years Sri lanka has found talent in form of Asalanka, Rajapaksha, Hasaranga. Micky Arthur by 2022 will develop this side to reach heights again.BD on the other hand invested too much on Soumya, Liton, Sabbir, Mosadek all of them has been once in a blue moon performers. BD is winner of the previous Under 19 world cup, they should slowly introduce them through T20s as they are also performing in domestic.

Selector needs to be brave and think beyond their best 5 and all those failed players, this series against Pak could have been the best platform for those players to showcase their talents.

Arthur is unfortunately about to leave for Derbyshire, replacing Houghton. Pretty unfortunate but typical SLC.
