Re: State of SA
Would slot in Deepak Chahar in place of Shardul, keeping in mind how Bhuvi troubled SA batsman with swing back in 2018 test series. Deepak can also bat like Shardul

Re: State of SA
Marco jansen has debuted today. He's struggled a but its very clear to see that he's one hell of a prospect. The bounce he gets is unreal. Bowlee 90mph too
Re: State of SA
Solid day 1 for India. I was very surprised to see Olivier not getting picked esp when Nortje is Injured. That's a massive call playing Jansen over Olivier.
I must say though that the wicket is flat and I expect draw to be more likely than India's win. Esp given the rain forecast for day 2 and 5.

Re: State of SA
Lungi Ngidi has silenced his critics...again. Ngidi and Rabada are the first choice strike bowlers, Nortje is also great, Jansen is to be groomed and mentored by Rabada and Notje. Oliver adds depth, good for rotating seamers. Its a pity SA do not have good spirit bowlers, Tahir was okay but more of a short format bowler, Shamsi, Maharaj aren't good enough. AS will now be chasing 320, do they have the batsmen for it?? I am not convinced!

Re: State of SA
I think Maharaj is alright. Bowling in Sa for spinners is always hard. But yeah Duanne was definetley a better pick but SA ofc need to be grroming too for the future so I wont be too harsh
Re: State of SA
yeah, SA has never really had a top class spinner. Hammer was promising, but left for Kolpak. The Jansen twins are probably the next big thing, both 2m + tall , left arm fast, Marco is already in the fold, Duane is potentially an allrounder as he's also good with the bat. So, the seam department is staked, now, if only they had a formidable batting lineup, they could take their place among the top 3 test nationsslcricfan1 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 9:10 amI think Maharaj is alright. There's a young lad in the system called nandre burger too. He's a serious talent with some pace.
I'm glad Jansen is in there. He's got a lot of potential

Epic bowling from India here. Unplayable.
Re: State of SA
SA batting is subpar to be honest, they lost most of their world class batsmen at once, what they have now constitutes a bits-and-pieces collection of inconsistent try-hards with very few, if any youngsters knocking on the door
Re: State of SA
Any thoughts as to why they are in inexorable decline?
