I wouldn't put Ngidi and "transformation targets" in the same sentence, he literally has eight wickets in the ONGOING test...to do so would suggest that he's there because they wanted a black face in the mix..yet he is their best performing bowler in the test that being played RIGHT NOW!! Plus he has good stats from previous matches. I think the obsession of quortas and labelling black players as quorta players despite talent levels, performances and tangible results is just sad
Of course. He isnt a quota player at all. But his addition into the side allows South Africa to avoid proper quota players who dont deserve a position in the side at all
Don't stress, people get very defensive because they know how morally indefensible it is.

This is a great test match, really enjoyed it the last few days especially the pace bowling from both sides.Batting last at Centurion notoriously difficult though. I think SA will be praying for rain tomorrow. But you never know.

Van Tonder is the next big thing googly. I can't believe he isn't in the test squad, let alone the starting XI. Keegan Peterston is a gun, too. Just you watch. He's three times the batter Bavuma is.

In am ideal world, I'd probably have the below south african XI, based on playing ability and excluding race completely.

1. Deal Elgar (Cpt)
2. Aiden Markram
3. Keegan Peterson
4. Raynard Van Tonder
5. Rassie Van Der Dusson
6. Kyle Verreyne
7. Quainton De Kock
8. Wiaan Mulder
9. Gerald Coetzee
10. Kagiso Rabada
11. Lungi Ngidi/Duanne Olivier (the way Lungi has bowled in the current test has really impressed me. He looks fit and strong, so I would edge towards him. However, Olivier has the ability to flatten a batting lineup. He's pure class. It would depend on the pitch).

12th man: Kesh Maharaj

13. Marco Jansen
14. Temba Bavuma
15. Litho Sipamla. (This kid is going to be an excellent red ball bowler. Keep him the fuck awat from Whitehall cricket).

That's a nice line up, but with Nortje, Jansen and Olivier in the mix, Ngidi resting on his laurels and bowling 125kph after the 6th over is just bullshit. If he's hungry and looking over his shoulder believing the Boers are coming for him then he's bloody good. I'll keep an eye out for Van Tonder.
I just haven't watched SA domestic stuff for ages. This quota shit gives me a nose bleed.

I heard that Matigimu may finally be getting a start in domestic cricket there, not sure why it's taken so long. It's going to be interesting to see how he looks, haven't seen him bowl in years. He hasn't grown as much as I thought he would which is a bit depressing. These South African seamers are giants.

Ya man, that was a fantastic age group, they used to smash the South African provincial sides, if those guys had stuck together we'd be having a different conversation. The one seamer is still here, forgetting his name, still looks useful. Tinker had a lot to do with these guys, he was a good junior coach. He also had a lot to do with Muyeye's development.
That's my yardstick, ask a guy who he developed into a real player.
