A lot of things make sense now. From the way he was just carrying himself over the last 2 years. Seemed like his mind was elsewhere. To the early retirement to no communication from ZC. Clearly a lot was going on.

The ICC seem to have 0 tolerance for late reporting and he should have known better. Ultimately there is no excuse. A sad ending. ZC the big winners in all this once again.

This is also why I have serious doubts about that T10 competition. Any competition must be a ZC competition with ICC backing.

Was a big fan of BT, there is no way we can justify his action, and proper punishment needs to be dished out , for the sake of this beautiful game, to the culprit no matter who he is.

Nevermind the not-reporting....

Who flies to a dodgy third world country on their own, with a load of stranger businessmen, and does coke? Teenagers and idiots. Not 35 year olds with families mate, come on. That's just idiotic and asking for trouble. Even more stupid when you consider his profile and his career.

Sounds like he's got a real problem though. Thankfully he's got a big family and many many friends in Zim and it sounds like he's getting the support needed at rehab.

Nothing will ever take away his on the field stuff. My cricketing hero, an absolute legend. This hurts me personally more than the Streak stuff.

Will have to wait for the ICC statement to see if there any further details and if he actually did do any spot fixing.

Absolutely gutted.

BT was an icon of the game, and this hurts. He clearly had some issues and should have addressed them sooner. Key things to note in this are;

1) ZC paid no players for 6 months. Incompetent management can lead players to do drastic things. The players should know better though, but I guess everyone has to put food on a table some how. I really feel for the guys below BT's pay grade because they would have really been struggling. ZC still incompetent.

2) BT clearly at fault. 100% to blame. All the signs were there and he took the bait too easily. He needed to be smarter about this. He will pay for his actions, and rightly so.

3) Let's be clear that what BT did was wrong, but he never actually fixed any games. There are key differences here.

My biggest concern is that a lot more players took the bait. I also remember Cremer reporting an approach around that same time. A lot was happening

He could have easily reported it as soon as he got home and gave the money to the ICC, at that stage he would have only been Quilty of doing coke which is hardly the crime of the century.

Kind of feel there’s more to the story but nonetheless it’s another black eye for Zimbabwe cricket & white cricketers in general. Now two of my favourite all time Zim players have been retired in disgrace.

Not surprised I have lost interest of late
