How did the fixers know he had a cocaine addiction? Something seems fishy to me... Who told them.

Sibanda is saying that as he was the one asking for the suspension of the board he can't use that as an excuse for not getting paid for six months.
Something is fishy, not so much coke addiction (pretty much all athletes I’ve seen do it so it’s logical deduction) but a few things are odd.
1. Why has he not named names?
2. Why did he admit to taking the money as a down payment and not spin it as the 15j he was initially promised? Why would you voluntarily say that information up front? That’s key to the suspension and could easily have been hidden, unless it was taped or there was more to the story.
3. Why so elaborate a scam? fly him to India, conduct business, and on the third day extort him? I’ve pulled scams on people and never had such a drawn out warm up. Why wait three days and waste all that time when on the third day he could have just turned around and said ‘yo nah dawg I don’t feel like a bag tonight’.

good question.
but it wouldnt catch them out doing coke anyway. thats why coke is the drug of choice among athletes. Doesnt have the physical side effects of alcohol and is out of the system in hours.
All the players are on coke.
Detectable on modern tests for about 2-3 days I believe.
I thought it was 12-24 hours
I think most tests nowadays advise 72 hours. But yeah in reality it's highly unlikely to show up after a day or so unless you've had a absolute fuck-tonne of the stuff.

He isn't the only player in the current squad to have dabbled btw. It's an open secret about some of the others.

But I still can't believe a 35-year old would fly to a dodgy third world foreign country on his own, sit in some place with a big group of complete strangers, and indulge in a substance offered by them? You have to be pretty brainless to do that at his age and with a family back home. I can't believe the stupidity. That's even more stupid than not reporting it all tbh.

Not all athletes/cricketers. I think occasionally some clubs it becomes part of there after game culture. Still it wouldn't be everyone at that club. I know of one club that happened to. I know athletes that don't, and Id be shocked if khawaja/Marni's/Smith for example did it. Alcohol and anti drug organisations sponsor cricket here so players have to be extra careful about what they post etc

Was just thinking... we were all going after BT here for the way he was carrying himself in the last part of his career. If we go by the sentiments he has expressed in his release (and believe it completely), what an absolute misery it would have been for him to take the field with all this burden playing in his mind every moment! Can't imagine what he must have been going through.

I'm truly gutted by all of this.
It's a mystery why this is only coming out in the wash now.
ICC knew about this, yet made all the right noises when BT retired, but now he had to pre-empt the fallout and release a statement because only now were ICC issuing a ban and releasing their statement?
Why the long delay?
Does it take this long for ICC to process information and make decisions?
Was there an ongoing undercover op against these guys?
That doesn't explain why ICC gave him a decent send-off.
Maybe someone was about to leak this anyway?

I'm not really up to speed with any of this, but something doesn't add up.

A hair sample is one of the standard ways of drug testing. Most drugs are detectable in your hair! Weird but true.
The trick is to be bald perhaps.

Investigations and reports are always painfully slow. The anti corruption branch would be one part of the ICC. They'd still give him a send off. Its not like he did a hansie cronje and they are gonna give Smith, Warner etc etc a good send off too despite their failings.

Yeah most of the Zim team are on the gear I hear. Some have been rumoured to have played under the influence but that’s probably BS.

I should correct my earlier statement in hindsight that it isn’t logical deduction. Even if 70% of them do it you can’t predict who taht 30% will be so I think @Zimco does indeed have a good point that they must have known more about Brendan than is mentioned.
There’s more to this story. I just don’t know what it is.
Last week he was announced as part of the legends team. Weird that he would agree to it with this coming. Something tells me there was a recent development.
