Brendan needs more support from the fans at this time, no matter how stupid a thing he has done.

Mental health issues are for real and we all must understand that. I think at this time it is important for fans, colleagues, even ZC to forget everything and be behind Brendan so that he can recover well from this. He can easily go into severe depression if people are insensitive.

Bull dust Sam.

Allow me to share with you a few "-isms" which were drummed into me by the old school Rhodesian (and later Zimbabwean) elders at school, at home, in my family and elsewhere:

1. "You are an AMBASSADOR for your country when you go abroad. Never forget that. People will judge us as a nation / people based upon what YOU do."

2. "Don't bring disgrace upon our family / school / race, by behaving is a dishonest manner."

3. "This is the greatest country in the world / this is God's own country. " (Oh boy they never shut up about that - never sure what they based that damn comment on).

4. "Don't pretend that you don't know right from wrong."

5. "If everyone else was jumping off a cliff (read doing coke) would you do it too?"

6. As a white I often got, "you are part of a proud and noble race, etc, etc.... which built a country out of nothing in 60 years, if you disgrace us expect us to come down on you like a tonne of bricks."

Taylor should have done better. Streak too. They would both have had similar guidance to me.

Oddly, they are a pair who have both had truck with the p.c. crowd. Just goes to show you can't judge a book eh?

It's very possible to agree with BOTH of the above two posts.

You can think Taylor is a Grade A idiot and has really let him/us/the country down, and feel really hurt about it.

But also at the same time realise he's a human, realise he's about to check into rehab and we can all hope he gets the help required for whatever his problem is, and wish him well for the rest of his life.

At the end of the day he might have brought disgrace on whoever, but he isn't a murderer or a rapist or whatever. He did a line of coke, and waited a couple of months before reporting an approach out of genuine fear for his safety. It's not even as bad as what Streak did.

Appreciate your diplomacy secretzimbo, but this mental health crutch is sickening these days. My grandfather was flying in a bomber over Europe before he was 20! That's mental stress! Not getting paid 20k a month in a country that's starving.

Besides, checking into rehab after you get caught us a cop out. Same as Tiger Woods, banging anything that moved and then citing an "addiction." It's bullshit. He obviously wasn't beaten hard or often enough at school.

I don't feel hurt, just annoyed. I don't wish Taylor or Streak well. And I actually know the Streaks.

We are a small community under siege, and fighting for our very existence. Don't disgrace us. And if you do, leave and never return.

Ya I feel you, this is true man.
I don't wish Taylor or Streak well.
Can't quite agree with this though. He deserves his punishment, his upcoming ban, and quite a lot of stick. But hopefully he can move on and live a happy life beyond cricket. Hope he sorts himself out eventually. And I still appreciate everything he did on the field.

I’ll take BT’s word that he didn’t take part in any match-fixing. He’s still a legend of Zimbabwe cricket.

Mehluli and gang have gone all guns blazing against Taylor as expected ..i again try to say ..not approaching the ICC to inform a bookie approach has happened in the past also and it's not a very big deal ..people were welcomed back after their ban and they went on to do their jobs like nothing happened ..ICC is stupid when it says about informing without understanding that such people are really powerful and could target you and your family ..it's like a powerful criminal is after you and he has warned you from going to the police ..a lot of them would not go to the police cause they will be too scared of the retaliation that they might face from the criminal

Nah, I’m not Adam Theo, he’s a massive beta male.

Not great for BT….anyway. It’ll be here shortly I’d imagine.
Ah, so because he does things differently makes him beta male?

From all sounds, it's not good for BT. Can we stop emboldening Mukhulani and his crew. Their egos are big enough.
Unsure as to what “things he does differently” you are referring to, but I know him reasonably well and he’s just a weak, arrogant, little liberal-type soy boy. Sorry if thats offended you.

Arranging match fixing with a zim team has to be an interesting discussion. You're negotiating losing by more than we usually do. Maybe they thought Taylor was the only one actually remotely capable of making a difference.
The one match that keeps being brought up is that UAE disaster and that's the only one that I'm now fully confident never had any interference whatsoever. If any of our players were ever proven to have done anything poor in that game in particular it should be death. The lads played for their lives in that game.
If anybody thinks Streak and Taylor were the only people ever approached by betting syndicates they're dreaming. There will be people sitting very quietly, saying- there but for the grace of God go I.
