I dont think the general sports fan does understand that actually. Have you seen cricket comments lol?Zimco wrote: ↑Sat Jun 18, 2022 6:34 amI think you are reading too much into to it. England also made over 450 against Australia. That's sport, blowouts can happen. And I think the general sports fan understands that.sam_ahm wrote: ↑Sat Jun 18, 2022 5:50 amYou guys are missing the point here, we all agree that Netherlands and all associates along with Ireland, Zimbabwe are much better sides than this.
My point is that such games stand out... Now no one in my office or gym would follow an Eng-Net series normally but today everyone is talking about the kind of thrashing dished out as such games glaringly stand out and the ICC uses these very games as examples of reducing the number of teams in ICC events.
The Dutch could have prepared a bowling friendly track, 250 by ENg and 120 all out doesn't glaringly stand out, people dismiss it as yeah that happens but 498 stands out.
This does not do harm to Netherlands alone, it does harm to all associate nations, because it is generalized. It also harms Ireland and Zimbabwe because even though full members they are now literally regarded as alongside associates.
Do you think a normal cricket fan, unlike us, understands that some Dutch players were missing and all that, not at all. It is Netherlands playing and it is what it is.
Overall it reflects worse on the ICC actually.

England have a monster white ball team. I think Morgan's days are numbered unless he pulls a rabbit out of the hat.
These big teams are pulling even further ahead of the Associates now, there's no escaping that. It's not possible for an Associate side or one of the lesser member sides to bridge that gap anymore, the gap is just too big.
I've enjoyed Sri Lanka doing well against Australia though, bloody awesome for them and cricket in general.
This Vitality Blast is a damned good standard. Some of the big IPL names have been struggling this year.

I see Larry says there's big news today. I wonder if that's cricket related?
Why would he be sitting on news that he already has in hand?

Whatever he's sitting on should be leaked to a wannabe journo, they love breaking news.
First World journos live for the inside scoop, our guys just wait for the go ahead.
I'm musing out loud here....
Cricket related breaking big news.....

Board is resigning
Ballance?
They've bought a 450k fire engine to water the pitches?
